    A man's admitted killing a man in Crewe last summer who was stabbed in the heart.

    Cameron Albi Scragg, 21, formally of Gresty Road in Crewe , externalpleaded guilty to the manslaughter of Stephen O'Brien, who was attacked in a service lane off Edleston Road.

    Scragg will be sentenced at Chester Crown Court next month.

    Earlier this year, Oliver John Dabbs, 19, of Wood Street was jailed for life after being found guilty of Mr O'Brien's murder.

    A lorry's hit a bridge in Lichfield and overturned.

    Staffordshire Police says it happened just after 12:30 today on the A5127.

    The force says the road's been blocked after the collision and they're working with the fire service and Network Rail to get it moved.

    They say the lorry driver only suffered minor injuries.

    The former England captain Terry Butcher has told the BBC that Stoke City goalkeeper Jack Butland should start in England's friendly away to France tomorrow.

    Butcher says he wasn't impressed by Joe Hart's performance during England's 2-2 draw against Scotland.

  5. Hedgehog 'blown up like beach ball' to have air released in Cheshirepublished at 11:48 British Summer Time 12 June 2017

    A hedgehog "blown up like a beach ball" and diagnosed with a severe case of balloon syndrome is going to be thoroughly examined at an RSPCA centre in Cheshire.

    The animal, which had inflated to twice its size, was spotted wandering around in circles by a member of the public in Doncaster.

    RSPCA inspector Sandra Dransfield said it was clear the animal was suffering the rare condition, which is caused by gas collecting under the skin.

    The large 1kg (2.2lb) hedgehog has been transferred to the RSPCA's Stapeley Grange Wildlife Centre in Nantwich where he will be thoroughly examined under general anaesthetic and more air released.

    He will be cared for at the centre until he is ready to be returned to the wild.

    The former West Bromwich Albion striker, who joined the Potters earlier in the year, posted a picture of a sparkly engagement ring with the words, external "always and forever".

    While his reported girlfriend, Stephania Christoforou, put a picture of her ring on Facebook and added, external "Mrs Berahino to be..... Happiest person on the planet right now".

    More students in Newcastle-under-Lyme have been telling BBC Radio Stoke about problems they experienced when trying to vote in this year's general election.

    Dozens had told Keele Students Union Council they were turned away after being told their "names were not on the list" at polling stations, despite have a polling card.

    The Electoral Commission is investigating what happened and says it will consider the reports from Newcastle-under-Lyme.

    The borough council says it's looking into what happened, adding that lists weren't updated which meant people with polling cards couldn't cast their vote.

    Stoke City's Jon Walters scored a late equaliser against Austria and prevented the Republic of Ireland suffering a first defeat in World Cup qualifying.

    Martin O'Neill's men, captained by fellow Potter Glenn Whelan, trailed for most of the match to defender Martin Hinteregger's first-time strike in the 31st minute.

    They improved after the break and kept their unbeaten record thanks to Walters' 85th-minute volley.

    Norfolk were knocked out of the Unicorns Trophy at the quarter final stage for the fifth successive season after losing at Staffordshire.

    They never recovered from a top order collapse after being put into bat.

    Norfolk were bowled all out for just 119 after slumping to 39-4 and and then 95-9. Matt Plater top-scored with 31.

    Stafford's Conservative MP Jeremy Lefroy says he believes Theresa May should stay as prime minister.
