    An internationally acclaimed ceramics expert is planning to open a factory in the Potteries, creating up to 50 new jobs.

    Keith Brymer Jones, who's also a judge on the BBC's Great Pottery Throwdown, will be converting part of the old Spode works in the centre of Stoke (pictured).

    It'll mark the first return to production on the site since Spode went into administration nearly a decade ago.

    The family of a 14-year-old girl who died on a school trip when the minibus in which she was travelling collided with a bin lorry has spoken of its pride in her achievements., external

    Holly Brown, who was a twin to sister Emma, attended John Taylor High School in Barton-under-Needwood, Staffordshire. She died on Friday following the crash in Castle Vale, Birmingham.

  11. Two men stabbed over 'tenancy dispute'published at 17:05 British Summer Time 10 July 2017

    A man is in a stable condition in hospital after he was stabbed in Stoke-on-Trent over the weekend, in what police believe was over a tenancy dispute.

    Staffordshire Police were called to Elgin Street in Shelton on Saturday at about 18:20 following reports of two men with stab injuries.

    The second man received a stab wound, but has since been treated.

    A 19-year-old from Rochdale was arrested at the scene, though was later released.

    Police are appealing for witnesses and want to speak to a man, external, described as a black male, 5'9" with braided hair.

  12. Lorry drivers penalised for mobile phone usepublished at 16:41 British Summer Time 10 July 2017

    Two lorry drivers heading through Staffordshire have been hit with £200 fines and six points on their licences after being caught using their mobile phones while driving, police say, external.

    The law was changed earlier this year to double the penalties for those drivers caught on their mobiles.

    Some forces in the West Midlands have launched a fresh crackdown on mobile phones, highlighting that some drivers have been caught using them for navigating or even just to check on social media.

    A three-year-old girl and her mother are in a serious condition in hospital after a car reversed into them, as they were having a picnic at a tourist attraction in Sandbach.

    A 32-year-old woman from Bradley, Stoke-on-Trent was with her daughter as they sat down at Wheelock Hall Farm on Saturday afternoon.

    The woman, who has not been named, was taken to Aintree Hospital and the girl was taken to Alder Hey Hospital. They are both said to be in a serious but stable condition.

    Cheshire Police say no arrests have been made as investigations continue.

    Investigations are continuing into how a Staffordshire school girl died in a mini-bus crash on Friday.

    The 14-year-old, named locally as Holly Brown, was on a bus carrying pupils from John Taylor High School in Barton Under Needwood, when it collided with a bin lorry on the A38 North of Birmingham.
