    A couple of bits of gossip in the newspapers today that may interest Stoke City fans.

    Firstly, according to the Daily Telegraph, Stoke City want to sign Manchester City midfielder Fabian Delph, 27, external, (pictured) and are prepared to offer £12m for the player who cost City £8m from Aston Villa two years ago.

    Meanwhile, French website SFR Sport says the Stoke midfielder Giannelli Imbula, 24, is set to join Toulouse on loan. , external

    Of course this all comes just days before the window shuts at 23:00 on Thursday.

  3. Travellers get on to field despite newly installed bollardspublished at 10:35 British Summer Time 30 August 2017

    Travellers are back on a field in Newcastle-under-Lyme near Wolstanton High School, the 11th time such an incident's happened in the past two years.

    Last month, Staffordshire County Council, which owns the land, put up 26 concrete bollards and earth mounds.

    The authority said it was designed to prevent people getting on to the land, known locally as Baldies Field.

    However, yesterday afternoon, a small number of caravans turned up and managed to get on the land.

    The county council says it'll ask them voluntarily to leave and, if they don't, then take legal action.

    Stoke City's move to its new stadium 20 years ago has, since then, boosted Stoke-on-Trent's economy by over £130m, a local finance expert claims.

    The club's marking two decades at the Bet365 Stadium today after making the move from the Victoria Ground on 30 August 1997.

    Since then, as well as football matches, the site's hosted pop concerts and visits by the likes of Pele, Desmond Tutu and Muhammad Ali.

    Defender Sam Stubbs has joined League Two side Crewe Alexandra on loan from Wigan Athletic until January.

    The 18-year-old, son of ex-Everton, Celtic and Bolton defender Alan Stubbs, made his professional debut for Wigan in the Carabao Cup earlier this month.

    Stubbs signed a first-team contract this summer, but will stay with Crewe until 10 January.

  6. Trouble 'resolved' at HMP Featherstonepublished at 09:00 British Summer Time 30 August 2017

    A disturbance on one of the wings at Featherstone Prison has been "resolved" says the Ministry of Justice.

    Staffordshire Fire Service says one crew and an officer attended the prison at 20:20 and stayed on site for more than four hours after trouble broke out.

    No injuries to staff or prisoners have been reported.

    There's been violence overnight at HMP Featherstone in Staffordshire.

    Staffordshire Fire Service says it sent one unit to the scene last night and the Ministry of Justice (MoJ) says it involved a small number of inmates in one wing of the jail.

    The MoJ's warning that inmates who take part in prison violence will face extra time behind bars.

    In October last year, an inspection at HMP Featherstone found a "shocking worsening in standards" and that violence against staff had increased.

  13. Cats die from antifreeze poisoningpublished at 17:52 British Summer Time 29 August 2017

    Two cats have died after being poisoned with anti-freeze in a village.

    They both died earlier this month after ingesting the substance near Van Diemans Road in Wombourne, Staffordshire, near Wolverhampton.

    The RSPCA says it doesn't know whether the animals were deliberately poisoned but is asking owners to look out for symptoms, which include vomiting, sleepiness, uncoordinated movement and/or difficulty breathing.

    At the moment we would advise everyone in the area to keep an eye on their cats’ wellbeing and if they are showing symptoms of poisoning get them veterinary treatment immediately. At this stage we do not know if these were accidental incidents or deliberate but we would ask for people to check where they keep their pesticides and chemicals including antifreeze and make sure it is secure and out of the way of cats."

    David Artell's Crewe side face Newcastle United's under-23's. Artell told BBC Radio Stoke the tournament that can bring many rewards to a club like Crewe.

    You're being reminded to store your bins away after a number of wheelie bins were set alight, external last night in Crewe.

    Cheshire Fire and Rescue say one crew was called out to Newton Street in the town at around 23:30.

    Research by the National Farmers' Union suggests just 6% of farmers have access to superfast broadband.

    It's a difficulty faced by many people living in rural communities although efforts are taking place to improve things.

    In Staffordshire - £32m is being spent on improving rural broadband, connecting almost half a million homes.
