    In the West Midlands, one in 140 people are estimated to be testing positive for coronavirus in the period.

    At England level, one in 145 people are estimated to be testing positive for the coronavirus compared with one in 115 last week.

    About 97% of people aged over 70 in the region have received a Covid-19 vaccine but there is concern that take-up is lower among some ethnic minority groups and people who live in poorer neighbourhoods.

    Officers in Staffordshire are warning people to be wary of online fraudsters, external claiming to be selling puppies and dogs after a rise in incidents over the past week.

    Facebook Marketplace and Gumtree are two places involved in a number of the reports, Staffordshire Police said.

    A spokesman for the force said: "Please be vigilant when browsing animals for sale and do everything you can to make sure the adverts are from genuine sellers before parting with any money.

    "If anything arouses suspicion at all or doesn’t seem to quite add up, please, please don’t send them any money."
