  11. Is there more snow on the way?published at 16:26 Greenwich Mean Time 9 March 2023

Snow in Dawley, ShropshireImage source, Shropshire Liam / BBC Weather Watchers

The snow is likely to turn to rain as we move through the evening, however overnight conditions will turn more wintry, especially over higher ground.

Rain, sleet and snow is expected to clear gradually throughout Friday giving way to a brighter afternoon with a chance of a few further snow flurries.

That being said, the Met Office does still have weather warnings in place across the West Midlands.

An amber warning for snow will affect Stoke-on-Trent and north Staffordshire until Friday afternoon and a separate amber warning is also in place for parts of Shropshire until 09:00.

A yellow warning will be in place for the rest of the region until 14:00.

That means the Met Office believes there's still a chance of disruption across the West Midlands for the next day or so.

There is still congestion on the M5 after the earlier closure, with delays of about 10 minutes.

There are lane closures on the M6 northbound between junction 2 for Coventry and junction 3 for Bedworth while a carriageway defect is repaired.

Drivers in the area are advised to add 30 minutes to their travel time.

People in Redditch have been enjoying the snow amid school and work closures.

Joseph Tyers headed with his daughter to the Pitcher Oak Golf Course in Redditch after he was unable to get to his job.

Although he said the snow was "disruptive" this morning, he's glad of the chance for some family time.

"We always come here when it snows," he said. "It's really fun."

Also at the park was Scott Beasley, a builder who like Mr Tyers was spending time with his family.

"It means I can't go to work," he said of the snowfall. "[And] it's pretty hard to work out in the garden when it's like this."

However, not working also meant not getting paid, which he said was not great.

"But you've got to make the best of it," he explained. "Otherwise you just sit in your house all day."
