Tomorrow's first stage of the Women's Tour cycle race is expected to take about three hours and 13 minutes.

The 68 mile (110km) race starts in Bury St Edmunds at 11:00 and is estimated to finish at the Market Cross in Aldeburgh at 14:13.
Thursday's second stage goes from Braintree to Clacton and takes in various towns and villages in the Stour Valley, including Sudbury, Hadleigh, East Bergholt, Brantham and Manningtree.

Woman charged with Lowestoft murder

A 53-year-old woman has appeared in court charged with the murder of Dennis Nicholls, who died at his home in Kirkley Run, Lowestoft, on 19 November.
Karen Kimber, of Kirkley Run, appeared via video link at Ipswich Crown Court this afternoon.
She is due to re-appear for a plea hearing in August and has been remanded on bail.

The 68-mile race operates a system of rolling road closures as the race progresses through Stowmarket, Ipswich, Woodbridge, Saxmundham beofre the finish in Aldeburgh at about 14:00.

A 43-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of driving whilst unfit through drugs after a car crashed into a Portuguese cafe in Ipswich.

Police were called to Norwich Road at about 10:00 today after a Mitsubishi Shogun collided with the O Portugues cafe. No-one was injured.
The man, from Stowmarket, was arrested at the scene. He is due to answer bail on 16 August.

Officers were called to Edinburgh Road, Newmarket, on Friday, but the suspects climbed out of an upstairs window and were believed to have got into a black BMW 640 in Drinkwater Close.
Jewellery appeared to have been the target of the thieves, but officers are still trying to establish what has been taken. The Bury St Edmunds burglaries were between 11-13 June.

Buttermarket work begins

What former Waveney candidate Bob Blizzard has done is set aside the debate about policy, and pointed out it's the credibility of the leader who delivers the policies that's more important than the policies themselves.
Mr Blizzard, who says he knocked on 30,000 doors in Waveney during the latest of his five election campaigns, points out a palatable leader is the priority for Labour, and that if you don't have that it won't matter how good your policies are.
'Disappointing' night of speedway for King

A place at speedway's British Grand Prix was up for grabs for the winner of last night's British Final in Wolverhampton.
Former Mildenhall Fen Tiger Lewis Blackbird came sixth, Ipswich-based Leigh Lanham had two third-placed finishes and ex-Witch Carl Wilkinson can be well-pleased with his seven points.
It was a marathon meeting which gave us some great racing, but disappointing for current Witch Danny King, who came third and was so close to getting to the British GP next month.

'Track fault' to blame for disruption on trains

Overrunning repair works on a line near Norwich are being blamed for disruption in services to Ipswich, London and Ely this morning.
Network Rail said engineers were repairing a track fault in the Trowse area and services were unable to begin until 06:30.
A spokeswoman said services had returned to normal and they were "very sorry" for the disruption.

Woman charged with Lowestoft murder

A 53-year-old woman has appeared in court charged with the murder of Dennis Nicholls, who died at his home in Kirkley Run, Lowestoft, on 19 November.
Karen Kimber, of Kirkley Run, appeared via video link at Ipswich Crown Court this afternoon.
She is due to re-appear for a plea hearing in August and has been remanded on bail.
Road closures for Women's Tour cycle race

Cycling's Women's Tour starts in Bury St Edmunds at 11:00 tomorrow, with Angel Hill closed from 22:00 tonight as events get under way in the town.
The 68-mile race operates a system of rolling road closures as the race progresses through Stowmarket, Ipswich, Woodbridge, Saxmundham beofre the finish in Aldeburgh at about 14:00.
Suffolk County Council is issuing advice about road closures on its website.

Five burglaries linked

Four burglaries in Bury St Edmunds are being linked by police to a fifth in Newmarket where the suspects fled in a car after climbing out of an upstairs window.
Three of the jewellery raids in Bury took place on 12 June at properties on Abbot Road, Mayfield Road and Grange Walk
The fourth burglary took place on Winthrop Road between Thursday and Saturday.
Portuguese cafe crash: Driver 'unfit through drugs'

A 43-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of driving whilst unfit through drugs after a car crashed into a Portuguese cafe in Ipswich.
Police were called to Norwich Road at about 10:00 today after a Mitsubishi Shogun collided with the O Portugues cafe. No-one was injured.
The man, from Stowmarket, was arrested at the scene. He is due to answer bail on 16 August.

Burglars escape capture via upstairs window

Police are linking five burglaries in west Suffolk - one in Newmarket and four in Bury St Edmunds.
Officers were called to Edinburgh Road, Newmarket, on Friday, but the suspects climbed out of an upstairs window and were believed to have got into a black BMW 640 in Drinkwater Close.
Jewellery appeared to have been the target of the thieves, but officers are still trying to establish what has been taken. The Bury St Edmunds burglaries were between 11-13 June.
Six-month review on chief constable's absence

A six-month review of the chief constable of Suffolk's sick leave is due to take place, according to the police and crime commissioner's office.
Douglas Paxton has been on extended leave on full pay since 16 December. No details about his illness have been made public.
The PCC's office says a decision on future arrangements will be made in the next few weeks.
Buttermarket work begins

Work to convert the Buttermarket Centre into a leisure-based mall has started, the Ipswich Star reports.
The ground floor of the former Allders and TJ Hughes department stores is being converted into a single-storey large shop which is expected to be occupied by TK Maxx, which currently trades on the first floor of the centre.

If you look on social media there's a lot of talk from Labour supporters across Suffolk about the party's leadership race and how they want a broad debate about which policy direction the party should go in, and which leader would offer that opportunity.
What former Waveney candidate Bob Blizzard has done is set aside the debate about policy, and pointed out it's the credibility of the leader who delivers the policies that's more important than the policies themselves.
Mr Blizzard, who says he knocked on 30,000 doors in Waveney during the latest of his five election campaigns, points out a palatable leader is the priority for Labour, and that if you don't have that it won't matter how good your policies are.
'Disappointing' night of speedway for King

A place at speedway's British Grand Prix was up for grabs for the winner of last night's British Final in Wolverhampton.
Former Mildenhall Fen Tiger Lewis Blackbird came sixth, Ipswich-based Leigh Lanham had two third-placed finishes and ex-Witch Carl Wilkinson can be well-pleased with his seven points.
It was a marathon meeting which gave us some great racing, but disappointing for current Witch Danny King, who came third and was so close to getting to the British GP next month.

Gulls have been swooping down on people living in Crossley Gardens in Ipswich.
Adrian, a delivery man I spoke to, said: "It's very frightening and I dreaded coming back here today."
I spotted three chicks (just visible on the house on the left) who appear to have just left their nest on the roof. The adults appear to be trying to warn humans away.

Singer Laura Wright is preparing to set off on the first stage route of the Women's Tour in Bury St Edmunds tomorrow.
The Framlingham soprano, who is raising money for SportsAid, said: "I'm fully motivated, because it's raising money for such a good cause."
Wright will start the ride at Angel Hill at 08:00 and bike the 68 miles to Aldeburgh ahead of the professionals, whose race begins at 11:00. We'll have more details about the race later.
Bob Blizzard: 'Quality of new leader is priority'

'Track fault' to blame for disruption on trains

Overrunning repair works on a line near Norwich are being blamed for disruption in services to Ipswich, London and Ely this morning.
Network Rail said engineers were repairing a track fault in the Trowse area and services were unable to begin until 06:30.
A spokeswoman said services had returned to normal and they were "very sorry" for the disruption.
