    A 53-year-old woman is due to appear in court today over the murder of Suffolk pensioner Dennis Nicholls.

    Mr Nicholls, 89, died after being found with serious injuries in a house in Kirkley Run, Lowestoft, in November.

    Ipswich Town have been drawn at home to League Two club Stevenage in round one of the Capital One Cup.

    The tie will be played at Portman Road the week commencing 10 August.

    It'll be the second time in three seasons that the two sides have met in the competition, after Town lost 2-0 in Hertfordshire in 2013.

    The 23 Engineer Regiment of Rock Barrack, Woodbridge has become 23 Parachute Engineer Regiment and they're parading to celebrate the name-change today.

    Lowestoft boxer Anthony Ogogo shared his shock at the dramatic close to series five of Game of Thrones last night.

    The Olympic bronze medallist reacted in a similar way to many viewers of the HBO show, which is broadcast on Sky Atlantic and has a history of killing off key characters.

    Ogogo tweeted, external: "What the hell.... I'm genuinely teary eyed. How could the #GoT writers do this to us?"

    League Cup runs have been few and far between for Ipswich Town in recent seasons. Beaten in the first round the past two years, their semi-final appearance of 2010/11 is the only time in the past six years that they have gone beyond round two.

    Last season's 1-0 defeat at Crawley was the ninth time in 12 seasons that Town have lost to lower league opposition in the competition.

    Their subsequent early exit from the FA Cup means Mick McCarthy is still waiting for his first cup victory as Ipswich manager, at the eighth attempt.

    The police and crime commissioner's office confirmed his salary is based on a guideline figure of £133,845.

    Ipswich Witches rider Danny King finished third in speedway's British Final in Wolverhampton last night.

    Grand Prix rider Tai Woffinden (pictured) won the event for the third year in a row.

    Scott Nicholls, who is based in Suffolk, made it through to the race-off but could not add to his seven titles.

    The draw for the first round of the Capital One Cup is made at 10:00.

    Town are one of the seeded sides in the southern section. The Championship fixtures are released tomorrow.

    Greater Anglia trains, external says services are returning to normal gradually, but we have asked Network Rail for an explanation.

    Exhausted children are disrupting lessons so much a headteacher has cancelled all after school clubs to make sure they get a good night's sleep, according to the front page of today's Ipswich Star, external.

    Matt Hunter writes: "The extra-curricular activities at Murrayfield Primary School, in Ipswich, will not run for two weeks after teachers reached breaking-point with children's behaviour: The end-of-school disco has also been cancelled as part of the changes."

    Overrunning engineering works have disrupted trains between Norwich and Ely/Ipswich and on to London.
