  5. Massive increase in train cancellations due to freight train problemspublished at 08:59

    More passenger trains in Suffolk have been cancelled because of slow running or broken down freight trains in the three months since September, than in the whole of last year.

    Sixty seven passenger trains were cancelled because of freight trains, which is not only more than the whole of the previous year but also more than the total of the two years before that.

    The figures were released by Network Rail after a freedom of information request by BBC Radio Suffolk.

    A Star Wars fan with 20,000 items of memorabilia says he will have to move house - as the latest sequel looks set to swell his collection further.

    Jason Buxton, 46, has amassed his collection of action figures, costumes and other merchandise since he saw the original Star Wars film in 1978.

    The hoard already fills the three-bedroom home he shares with his wife, two sons and dogs in Ixworth.

    Ipswich Town's Under-18s are out of this season's FA Youth Cup after a 2-1 defeat at Liverpool in the third round.

    Sam Ford got Ipswich's goal shortly after Adam Phillips had given the Merseysiders a third minute lead. Toni Gomes then netted the winner after 26 minutes.

    Liverpool will now host Cardiff City next.

    Suffolk Police is taking to Twitter, external to demonstrate the type of calls it gets in an average day.

    The force wants to show the majority of its calls aren't about crime, but frequently on mental health issues or requests for information.

    The 24-hour tweetathon will use the hashtag #Suffolklive, external.

    A Commons debate last night heard how rail services on some branch lines were cancelled last month, because ofleaves damaging trains.

    South Suffolk MP James Cartlidge said it's been a "difficult" year for people in Sudbury, who were also affected by the massive firein September:

    "They're a pretty stoic bunch but when they were told they would have no rail service for two weeks because of leaves on a different line it was pretty humiliating... for me to have to deal with the ever angrier constituents," he said.

    Suffolk's councils will find out today how much money they'll get from central government next year. Some are already sharing resources to reduce costs.

    Suffolk Police will also discover its budget for next year.

    Although the chancellor announced in the Autumn statement last month that police funding would be protected, the county's force has already said it's cutting frontline police numbers to save money.

    Ipswich Town, external midfielder Cole Skuse says he isn't surprised to see Brett Pitman (pictured) topping the goal scoring chart at Portman Road.

    Pitman, who also played alongside Skuse at Bristol City, scored his seventh of the season in Tuesday's win at Fulham.

    "He's the best finisher I've played with," Skuse said. "I told the lads last summer he'd be a great signing. He's such a good finisher and his all round technical ability is outstanding."
