    The officer who led the investigation into the haul of weapons found in Wyverstone says it's a "relief" to see a conclusion to the case, with more than 400 weapons being destroyed from today.

    None of the weapons will be kept because of their rarity or historical interest. Steve Mattin said the priority had to be public safety, and they couldn't take the risk of a weapon resurfacing sometime in the future.

    The destruction is expected to take several days at Suffolk Police , externalheadquarters in Martlesham.

    This morning we've reported the story of how memorial trees were mistakenly felled in Newmarket to make way for a statue of the Queen, a horse and a foal to mark her 90th birthday.

    The National Horseracing Museum, external sent us in a photo of what the statue will look like. It will be situated on Birdcage Walk in Newmarket, and is due to be in place by the end of the summer. 

    In total 10 trees were felled, four of which were memorials. The council is in discussion with families concerned to replace the trees and repair a damaged plaque.

    It was the biggest haul of weapons ever found in the UK, and belonged to James Arnold, chairman of the parish council.

    Mr Arnold was charged, but died of cancer while on remand. Here are a few stats about the haul, which was found at his home and is being destroyed today.

    More than 460 items, including pistols, rifles, shotguns, machine guns, a rocket launcher, grenades and 200,000 rounds of ammunition were found at the home of former parish council chairman James Arnold in Wyverstone in 2014.

    The largest hoard of weapons ever found in the UK will be destroyed later.

    More than 400 illegal weapons were discovered behind a false wall in a Wyverstone home two years ago. 

    Earlier this year, Anthony Buckland, from Norfolk, was jailed for six years for his part in supplying some of them to former parish council chairman James Arnold.

    The Duke of Cambridge has rejected criticism of his commitment to his royal duties, saying he's concentrating on his family, and on his job as a pilot with East Anglian Air Ambulance.

    In a BBC interview, ahead of the Queen's 90th birthday tomorrow, Prince William said he was "absolutely willing" to take on more responsibility when the time came.

    He said: "When the Queen decides that she's going to hand down more responsibilities, I'll be the first person to accept them."

    It was a special moment for teenage midfielder Andre Dozzell last night, as he made his full debut for Ipswich Town. The 16-year-old was substituted in the 55th minute.

    Town boss Mick McCarthy was satisfied with the youngster's performance in a game that was lacking in quality. Describing Dozzell's display, McCarthy said: "He certainly wasn't any worse than anybody else, when he had the ball he was fine with it. He does the donkey work that everybody has to do in the Championship."

    Explaining the decision to sub the youngster, McCarthy said: "I didn't take him off because he was struggling in any shape or form but I just wanted to get Didzy (David McGoldrick) on and Kevin Bru on to see if we could liven it up."

    Four memorial trees have mistakenly been felled to make way for a bronze statue of a horse and a foal to mark the Queen's 90th birthday.

    Despite instructions that no memorial trees would be removed, four were cut down.

    Town councillor Warwick Hirst said: "An offer's been made to one of the people who's very upset and obviously they'll come to the opening of the statues. The trees will be replaced, the plaques will be replaced, it'll be done in discussion with each of the families as to where they want it."
