  6. Hermann Hreidarsson: England defending 'diabolical'published at 09:14 British Summer Time 28 June 2016

"Everything was just too slow and sloppy, they were scared to play," he said. "Maybe it was the worst thing that could happen for them, to score that early. Maybe they thought it was going to be a walk in the park.

"The biggest point for me is the equalising goal. It's an absolute paste of the goal against Austria, where it's a long throw in, a flick on, and then the Icelanders are more determined to get the second ball.

"They must have seen the goal. They must have defensive coaches. To make Wayne Rooney mark our biggest centre back who flicks it on is just diabolical.

    "It's horrible defending."

  7. Iceland were better than England 'in every department'published at 09:06 British Summer Time 28 June 2016

Former Ipswich Town and Iceland defender Hermann Hreidarsson has hailed last night's Euro 2016 victory over England as the "biggest win in our history".

"It wasn't by luck, we were the better team and better on the pitch in every department," said Hreidarsson, who represented his country 89 times.

"They're so organised. Everyone is putting a massive shift in. You could see how we pressed the ball right from the top, the two strikers came off absolutely knackered.

"We work that extra bit hard and as a unit - it's hard to break us down. We were also playing good football - the second goal was a class act.

"First it was a great achievement just to be in France, now the momentum is growing."
