    That's all from the Suffolk Live team for today - our main story has been the ruling by a High Court judge that Suffolk Constabulary is entitled to recover £200,000 in costs from Ipswich Town Football Club.

    The club, which had argued that it should not have to pay for policing outside the ground on Portman Road, is applying to the Court of Appeal to grant the hearing of an appeal.

  2. Teenager admits possessing cocaine with intent to supply in Lowestoftpublished at 17:45 British Summer Time 8 July 2016

    A 16-year-old boy from south-east London has pleaded guilty to possessing crack cocaine with intent to supply, after being arrested in Lowestoft on Tuesday.

    Two police officers on patrol in the Bevan Street West area noticed what appeared to be drug-dealing taking place, and detained the teenager a short time later.

    He appeared before Norwich Magistrates on Wednesday, where he pleaded guilty, and is due to be sentenced at Bromley Magistrates Court on 3 August.

  4. Why is Akenfield so special?published at 17:28 British Summer Time 8 July 2016

    The digitally remastered Akenfield, which is headlining a programme of films of rural Suffolk to be screened at Jimmy's Farm, external this weekend, was the first British film to open the BFI London Film Festival, and 14 million watched it on television when it was broadcast in January 1975.

    Filmed in and around Charsfield in 1974, it featured local people acting out the stories of three generations of one family under the direction of Sir Peter Hall.

    It was based on a short script written by Ronald Blythe, author of Akenfield: Portrait of an English Village.  

    It will be released on DVD and Blue-ray by the British Film Institute, external on 25 July. 

  5. Restored Akenfield film to be screened at Jimmy's Farmpublished at 17:14 British Summer Time 8 July 2016

    The much-loved feature film Akenfield has been restored, and is being shown at screenings at Jimmy's Farm, external near Ipswich this weekend.

    Directed by Sir Peter Hall in 1974, Akenfield was one of the first British films to be part-financed by television and cinema.   

    The digital remastering has been the work of the BFI National Archive in conjunction with the East Anglian Film Archive (EAFA).

  8. Brexit vote blamed for delay in revealing region's new rail providerpublished at 16:49 British Summer Time 8 July 2016

    A rail campaign group has said the delay in revealing who will win the next rail franchise for East Anglia is down to the Brexit vote.

    Peter Wakefield, from the group Rail Future, external, said: "The bids are all made on the basis of a premium that they will have to pay eventually back to the government.

    "These premiums are based on the fact that there's going to be growth and the referendum result now has probably changed that in the minds of many financiers so they've had to go back to the drawing board I would imagine."

  9. Jury sent home in Gerard Singer trialpublished at 16:44 British Summer Time 8 July 2016

    The jury in the trial of Gerard Singer, who denies abusing nine former pupils at a private boarding school, has been sent home for the weekend from Ipswich Crown Court. 

    The offences were alleged to have taken place between 1978 and 1981 at St George's School, which was based at Wicklewood in Norfolk and then Great Finborough in Suffolk.

    The jury is due to resume its deliberations on 28 charges on Monday morning.

  10. Man arrested following Haverhill firepublished at 16:32 British Summer Time 8 July 2016

    A man has been arrested on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life, following a house fire in Haverhill.

    The 55-year-old has been taken to the Bury St Edmunds Police Investigation Centre.

    Police were contacted by the fire service at about 20:45 yesterday, reporting that the fire on Eastern Avenue was believed to be suspicious.

    A man was taken to the West Suffolk Hospital with minor burns and was discharged in the early hours of this morning.

  11. Man's body found at Trimley St Marypublished at 16:29 British Summer Time 8 July 2016

    The body of a man has been found not far from Cordys Lane on the Trimley Marshes nature reserve.

    Police are treating the death as unexplained, however there are not thought to be any suspicious circumstances.

    The man was found by a member of the public at about 13:15.

    With Suffolk’s Katy Sealy competing in the Rio Olympics this summer, she could be forgiven for having concerns about the Zika virus that has led to a number of high profile athletes pulling out of the games.

    However, the 25-year-old, who will represent Belize, has refused to be put off.

    She said: “I'm going no matter what. I'll take my bug spray and I'll be completely sensible and safe in what I do. 

    "I think it’s a shame some of the top athletes are pulling out and not competing in what is the biggest games.”  

  14. Suffolk athlete Katy Sealy off to Riopublished at 16:07 British Summer Time 8 July 2016

    Bawdsey's Katy Sealy will be representing Belize at the Olympic Games in Rio, external this summer.

    Normally a heptathlete, Sealy has been selected to take part in the 100m hurdles.

    She said: "It’s not one of my stronger events, but it’s not a weaker event. So I’ve got a lot of room for improvement and I’m working very hard on that at the moment, literally everything I’m doing at the moment is hurdles.

    "The aim is to go out there, run a personal best and enjoy it."

    The Ipswich Witches partnership of Nico Covatti (pictured) and Morten Risager will look to defend the Premier League Pairs speedway title at Somerset this evening.

    Last year Danny King and Rohan Tungate won the meeting for Ipswich, but with Tungate no longer at the club and King competing in Cardiff this weekend, Covatti and Risager will take their place.

    Risager told the BBC he doesn't expect an easy ride: "It's going to be difficult, pairs is always difficult. 

    "There's a lot of strong heat leaders in the Premier League and at the end of the day it's who's best on the night."

    Back now to the story we brought you earlier - the ruling by a High Court judge that Suffolk Constabulary is entitled to recover a £200,000 in costs from Ipswich Town.

    The club had argued that it should not have to pay for the part of the bill which covers policing outside the ground on Portman Road and Sir Alf Ramsey Way.

    Suffolk Police issued a statement: “The judgement has acknowledged that policing football matches at Portman Road is something which needs to be paid for fairly and sensibly with appropriate policing costs being recovered.

    "We will continue to work with the Safety Advisory Group to provide advice and allow the chair to determine how the club meets it obligation to achieve a Safety Certificate. 

    "We will vigorously defend any appeal, on behalf of the Suffolk tax payer.”

    A by-election seat which could have upset the balance at Suffolk County Council, external has remained Conservative.

    If the Carlford seat, which covers part of Mid-Suffolk, had gone to any another party it would have meant the Conservatives would no longer have had a majority if all the other parties voted against them. 

    The seat was won by Robin Vickery. It became vacant after the death of Peter Bellfield.

    Two fires in the county are being treated as suspicious.

    The first was just before 18:00 yesterday when fire crews were called to Woodbridge Road in Ipswich where the front door to a flat was on fire in the lobby area.

    The second was two hours later in Eastern Avenue in Haverhill where crews found a flat well alight. 

    A man in his forties needed hospital treatment for minor burns to his hands and face.

    The area around the property has been sealed off for police investigation.

    Police are appealing for help to trace a Felixstowe man who went missing yesterday afternoon.

    Michael Flatman, 55, was reported missing at about 18:40. It's thought he left his home some time after 14:30.

    There are concerns for his well-being as he left personal items, including his phone, at his address.

  20. Cost of policing Ipswich Town matchespublished at 13:35 British Summer Time 8 July 2016

    The £200,000 claimed by Ipswich Town from Suffolk Constabulary for policing on the public highway for matches between 2008 and 2013 is a small part of the total bill the club gets.
