Problems on the Sudbury to Marks Tey railway line, which last year included 13 days without a service because of problems caused by leaves, are being discussed today at a meeting in the Suffolk town.

    Abellio train

South Suffolk MP James Cartlidge, who's meeting with Network Rail, the Department of Transport and train provider Abellio Greater Anglia, said: "People's expectation of the service round here generally on Greater Anglia, whether from Sudbury or the mainline stations, is relatively poor.

"We still have these days of very bad experiences... there is an awful lot to do."

  3. Welcome to Friday's Suffolk Livepublished at 08:02 British Summer Time 8 July 2016

    Good morning.

We're starting the day focusing on the county's rail service, as, like many train services themselves, the announcement about the next rail franchise for East Anglia is late.

It was due at the end of June, but just over a week later, it's still not arrived.

We'll hear about a meeting in Sudbury today, where there are calls for a better service, and find out what the campaign group Rail Future, external is  hoping for from the new provider.

You can join in too, by sending us an email, or posting a message on our Facebook page, external.
