A shop manager has been describing being woken with a "gigantic bang" in the early hours of this morning, when ram-raiders reversed a Vauxhall Zafira car into the door of his shop.
Alex McIntyre, from the Premier Store in Mendlesham, said he was woken around 02:45 with "the whole house shaking".
"I got up to look out of the window to see what was going on and I saw a car disappear under the eves of the roof, and then another loud bang," he said.
He continued: "I realised the front of my shop had been demolished so I went into the front and came across three chaps that were taking everything in the tobacco gantry."
As soon as he turned up, Mr McIntyre said one of the men ran out of the shop: "I think he was the driver because I heard the car horn after that.
"The other two chaps pushed me against the wall and just ran off."
An hour later the same suspects are thought to have forced entry to the Spar shop on the corner of Woodbridge Road and Schreiber Road in Ipswich, damaging a cigarette cabinet and stealing a bottle of alcohol.
A silver Vauxhall Zafira car, registration KL55 TVP, which was stolen last night from an address in Mendlesham, has not yet been recovered, police said.
The family of one of the UK's top Mustang pilots, whose vintage aircraft crashed killing a passenger, is "encouraged by his progress".

After an excellent start to the season since winning promotion, the Suffolk side have found the going tough in recent weeks, having lost four of their last five games.
Despite this, assistant manager Andy Reynolds (pictured) says morale among the group remains high, as emphasized by a lengthy post-match huddle following Saturday's defeat to Leatherhead.
"We've had that since we got rid of a few bad eggs," Reynolds said.
"The boys in that circle care about the club and the fans and they can manage and hold their own court."
