Our last look at one of the charities in Suffolk which receive grants from Children in Need takes us to "Home-Start Mid Suffolk, external" in Stowmarket.

It provides activity groups for children and their families affected by mental health issues, poverty and deprivation.

They receive nearly £70,000 over three years to help develop family relationships, develop skills and increase emotional well-being:

Teamipswich Swimming, external is one of nine Suffolk charities funded by Chidren in Need and provides swimming coaches and competitions for disabled children and young people.

With your help they've been given £57,000 over three years to improve youngsters' confidence, help them make new friends and be healthier:

When Ipswich Town last played at Portman Road, manager Mick McCarthy was booed off the pitch following a 2-2 draw with Rotherham, and a series of negative chants regarding Town's style of play.

Midfielder Tom Lawrence hopes the impressive away win at Sheffield Wednesday just under a fortnight ago will lead to an improved atmosphere when Ipswich face Nottingham Forest in Suffolk tomorrow. 

"Everyone expected us to win against Rotherham and maybe we should have done," Lawrence said. "But no game is easy in the Championship.

"It's been tough but we like playing at home, and hopefully the fans will get behind us this weekend and we can kick on."

Midfielder Conor Grant's loan move has been cancelled by Mick McCarthy.

The 21-year-old had made just seven appearances for the Blues since joining in the summer. 

McCarthy told the Ipswich Town official club website, external: "I felt bad for Conor, because he has come to us to play games and although he has had a few appearances, his time on the pitch has been limited." 

He will return to his parent club Everton and play for their under-23s.

He scored an early contender for Ipswich Town's goal of the season at Sheffield Wednesday just under a fortnight ago, and Leicester loanee Tom Lawrence says he is enjoying his stay in Suffolk.

The Welsh international is expected to continue on the left side of midfield when the Blues take on Nottingham Forest at Portman Road tomorrow, and it is a position he clearly enjoys playing in.

"Hopefully through my performances it has been showing that I like this role," Lawrence enthused. "That said, anywhere the gaffer puts me, I will play.

"I came here to play games and people have shown faith in me at Ipswich. 

"Hopefully I'll pay that back."

Five points separate Ipswich Town from Nottingham Forest ahead of the latter's trip to Portman Road tomorrow.

The away side are just two points above the Championship's relegation zone following a run of four games without a win, while Town are five points off the final play-off place. 

"They've been playing 3-5-2 lately, but I don't think they've won a game that way," said Blues boss Mick McCarthy. 

"They've had two weeks off and may have been preparing something different.

"Either way, we've got our way of playing and we can adapt when we need to. 

"Basically, we'll worry about our performance more than theirs."

Plans to devolve powers to Norfolk and Suffolk with a mayor are scrapped by the government in their present form.

There will be at least one change to the Ipswich Town line-up ahead of tomorrow's Championship fixture at home to Nottingham Forest at Portman Road, as defender Adam Webster misses out with a hamstring problem.

Manager Mick McCarthy has plenty of options available in midfield, and has admitted that it will be difficult not to start with Jonny Williams, with the Welsh international closing in on full match fitness. 

"Having these choices is a lovely position to be in," McCarthy said. "If Jonny does get his hands on a starting place then it will be tough to shift him.

"At the same time it will be tough changing it and taking David McGoldrick, Grant Ward, Teddy Bishop or Tom Lawrence out of the team."

Suffolk is to explore a "go-it-alone" devolution deal, despite disappointment over opposition in Norfolk which has led to the current plan being scrapped. 

Jennie Jenkins, Conservative leader of Babergh District Council in south Suffolk and chair of Suffolk's Public Sector Leaders Group, said: "It was disappointing news to hear the results of the votes at King's Lynn & West Norfolk Borough Council, external last night and it appears as though this means that there will not be an agreement reached for a Norfolk and Suffolk devolution deal at this time.

"However, it is important for those of us in Suffolk who wish to explore the potential opportunities for devolution further, to continue conversations with government and to meet as planned during the next seven days to vote on the commitment previously given to each respective authority in Suffolk. 

"We will be seeking to explore the potential for a Suffolk-based devolution deal and to investigate options for establishing interim governance arrangements for any such alternative deal."

Norfolk County Council leader Cliff Jordan said: "We understand the secretary of state will be writing to the Norfolk and Suffolk authorities to take the current devolution deal off the table.

"It would be a waste of public money to bring members into the council unnecessarily on Monday to debate a deal which is no longer available to us."

The combined authority and its mayor would have been responsible for powers which would have been devolved from Whitehall, but it was stressed there would be no intention for it to take existing powers from local authorities.

These powers were transport, strategic planning and skills training, with a hint that at some stage health and social care may be added to the list.

The mayor, who would be elected by voters and be answerable to a cabinet, would have been able to:

• Increase business rates
• Be responsible for the maintenance of the road network currently run by the Highways Agency
• Oversee all local transport
• Deliver thousands of new homes, although local authorities would still be able to approve or reject plans
• Oversee flood defence spending

I am hearing from reliable sources that the Norfolk and Suffolk devolution deal in its present form has been scrapped. 

I am told that the Local Government Secretary Sajid Javid has decided that the deal can't go ahead in its present form and as a result Norfolk County Council has cancelled Monday's meeting when councillors would have voted on the plan. 

But Suffolk is being told to continue with its meetings next week as ministers feel Suffolk devolution on its own may work. 

It was back in September 2015 that we were told the first steps had been taken towards devolution in the eastern region, with Norfolk, Suffolk and Cambridgeshire councils all telling the government they wanted more of a say over local spending, planning and economic development.

Throughout this year, there have been a number of developments:

• March - A devolution agreement is published by the treasury and signed by 22 of the 23 council leaders in Norfolk, Suffolk and Cambridgeshire 
• May - Council leaders in Cambridgeshire propose an alternative deal
• June - Revised devolution plan says region would be split between Cambridgeshire/Peterborough and Norfolk/Suffolk
• July - 19 councils proceed with plans for regional devolution despite four Norfolk authorities rejecting plans
• November - Government gives go-ahead to devolution for Norfolk and Suffolk in what it says is a final offer
