    Andrew Sinclair
    BBC Look East political correspondent

International Trade Secretary Dr Liam Fox has assured farmers in the East that securing a good deal for the industry is one of the priorities in the forthcoming Brexit negotiations.

Speaking during a visit to Camgrain in Balsham, he said the government was hoping for tariff-free trade with the EU once we had left. He said he was also hoping to negotiate new trade deals with other countries around the world.

A few MPs have privately expressed fears that food and farming could lose out under Brexit, but Dr Fox described such concerns as "misplaced".

"Tariffs on farming would hit EU producers more than us. I hope that common sense and rationality is not trumped by short-term political considerations," he said.

Dr Fox was visiting Cambridgeshire in support of James Palmer, the Conservative candidate in the mayoral elections.

    Graeme Mac
    BBC Radio Suffolk sport

Earlier this week, Ipswich Town legend Terry Butcher told us he believes Mick McCarthy will remain as manager for next season, and today the boss has been talking to us about potential summer signings.

    Mick McCarthy

While a growing number of supporters are calling for McCarthy to step down after a poor campaign, the manager has been in conversation with club owner Marcus Evans.

Talks have consisted of how they can both improve matters at the club by means of bringing in new players.

"We spoke on the phone and believe me Marcus does not want to have another season like this," McCarthy said.

"He wants us to be better.

"It's up to me to put a proposal to him in terms of players and how much they might cost.

"If there's a deal that we can do then he'd be prepared to help."

YouTube star and stunt man Colin Furze restored the small fairground vehicle in the space of three weeks and, with his addition of a 100 horsepower, 600cc Honda motorbike engine, he was able to give it a new lease of life.

The average speed of a dodgem car is around 5mph, but the Stig set a new land-speed world record of 100.3mph, thanks to its makeover.

The stunt, which took place at the former USAF airbase near Woodbridge, was witnessed by Guinness World Records official adjudicator Lucia Sinigagliesi, who confirmed his record-breaking feat.

Sinigagliesi said: "We're all used to seeing The Stig driving at high speeds - but he's usually in a sports car and usually on a race track.

"To see him hurtle past in a classic bumper car at 100mph was surreal, but hugely impressive.

"Equally as impressive is the engineering expertise of Colin Furze - the combination of their skills makes for record-breaking fun."

"I don't seek that kind of a conversation out," McCarthy told us.

"I've said to him that I'd love to be at a club spending millions where I'm told that if I don't get promoted I'm getting the sack.

"In turn, he's told me that if he was at one of those clubs I'd be the first person he'd call.

"I don't need any more support than that. That will do for me."

As reported by the East Anglian Daily Times, external , a freedom of information request to the constabulary has asked how much it's cost to fight the case over Ipswich Town's compensation claim.

Police say the figure of £181,780 spent so far won't be the final total, as an appeal is under way.

Neither the force or the football club have commented, due to the continuing legal process.

The dispute is over the question of whether the football club should have to pay the police for patrolling all of the streets around the stadium - not just the ones where the turnstiles are.
