  1. Vicar recorded 'hundreds of men' on the toiletpublished at 15:00 British Summer Time 14 June 2017

A vicar held his mobile phone over the top of a public toilet cubicle and filmed a man using the toilet, a court heard.

The trial of Very Rev Martin Thrower, who denies two counts of voyeurism, started at Norwich Crown Court earlier.

The 56-year-old clergyman was caught when a 17-year-old heard a noise above him as he sat on the toilet at the Buttermarket shopping centre in Ipswich, Suffolk.

The teenager looked up and could see someone's hand holding a mobile phone that was filming him.

"He reacted by getting up smartly and grabbing the phone and unsurprisingly he was pretty shocked and upset by what had happened," said William Carter for the prosecution.

He said the teenager took the phone to a security officer who detained Thrower until police arrived and he was arrested on August 4 last year.

Thrower, of Church Street, Hadleigh, Suffolk, is rector of Hadleigh, Layham and Shelley.

Officers seized computer equipment from his home and found 589 still images of individuals in adjoining cubicles on his phone, of "hundreds of different men", Mr Carter said.

At interview, Thrower said he had been taking such footage "for a couple of years since 2014" at places including supermarkets and service stations, the court heard.

He admits filming but denies that he was motivated by sexual gratification. The trial continues.

This summer, London is hosting the biggest global sporting events of the year - the 2017 World Athletics and Para Athletics Championships - and the organisers have launched a scheme to get people involved in athletics right around the country.

It's called Team Personal Best and the idea is that local sports clubs or community groups across the UK sign up and put on events with an athletics theme.

Event participants are then encouraged to share their athletic achievements - no matter how big or small - with the hashtag #TeamPersonalBest to build a nationwide buzz around the championships.

    BBC Local Live

    Ipswich hospital

Ipswich hospital is being sued over claims a radiologist at the centre of a breast cancer scandal in 2005 failed to spot signs of the disease in another woman in 2012.

In 2007 the General Medical Council (GMC) found that Dr Kong Fa Lan Keng Lun had deficiencies in his care of women in Epping, Essex.

Two years earlier, 6,000 scans had to be reviewed.

Now it has emerged he failed to properly treat another patient in 2012 while working at Ipswich Hospital.

The 46-year-old woman, from Suffolk, attended Ipswich Hospital in June 2012 and September 2013.

Dr Lan carried out a mammogram and ultrasound but concluded there was no abnormality in either breast that would suggest the disease.

However, 14 months later the woman was re-referred and after a biopsy was found to have the disease. She had a double mastectomy at a private hospital.

She is suing Ipswich Hospital NHS Trust, claiming the delay in getting an accurate diagnosis has shortened her life expectancy.

The hospital said that due to legal action it could not comment.
