"With modern science, professional athletes are playing for longer and it is no exaggeration to say that Leigh is a world class athlete," Drane told us.

  11. Tebbit: PM 'needs to continue'published at 12:23 British Summer Time 13 June 2017

Bury St Edmunds resident and former member of Margaret Thatcher's cabinet Lord Tebbit says Theresa May "needs to continue as prime minister for the present".

Lord Tebbit, pictured with Margaret Thatcher at the party conference in 1983, thinks Mrs May's future is "certainly more than weeks".

He continued: "We have to see what happens now, we can't undo those errors in the past.

"We've made the Labour Party a much more formidable opponent, because we let them get away with so much during that campaign.

"It's always hard to say there's no way back - it may be that she can strike back.

"She's done the right thing by bringing in new advisors, because the advisors she had were hopelessly incompetent."

Referring to how long the prime minister can survive in office the Tory peer said: "It depends what she does. The mistakes are behind her. It's where you go from here."

  12. Former cabinet member says recent election wasn't necessarypublished at 12:08 British Summer Time 13 June 2017

Lord Tebbit, who lives in Bury St Edmunds and was in Margaret Thatcher's inner circle of advisers and part of her cabinet for six years, says Theresa May's decision to call a snap election was "one of those things where it sounded a good idea at the time".

    Lord Tebbit

The man who was at Margaret Thatcher's side for her landslide victory in 1987, said: "You can only blame the prime minister herself, because her advisers were advisers that she chose and she chose not to take the advice of people who'd fought elections before, successfully.

"If she'd asked me about it, I'd have said 'if you want to go for an election, prime minister, you must go for the shortest possible campaign because if you're ahead at the beginning, then the only change that can happen will be for the worse'".

Yesterday, Greenan joined NBL Division 1 side Hemel Storm,, external and the 27-year-old hopes the move will help him earn selection for England at next year's Commonwealth Games.

"This process started in my mind when Leigh first started playing basketball for us 12 years ago. We've been trying to subtly convince him to take a chance and really go for it," Drane said.

"He picked up a knee injury 18 months ago and things accelerated from there. We told him to use the following season to get in the best shape of his life and then review his options.

"He is good enough to play at the Commonwealth Games for sure, but he was never going to get picked while he was competing in Division 2.

"Next season will be different and hopefully the selectors will take note."
