  16. Mick McCarthy: Ipswich fans have run out of patiencepublished at 17:26 British Summer Time 25 July 2017

    Graeme Mac
    BBC Radio Suffolk sport

Ipswich Town fans are right to demand results from the off this season, according to manager Mick McCarthy.

    Mick McCarthy

After a disappointing 2016/17 campaign, during which the Blues often received criticism for being less than pleasing on the eye, McCarthy and his players have been working towards a more attractive style of play.

However, the Yorkshireman does not expect supporters to show any patience while his team adapts.

"I'd love to play nicer and more attractive football but not at the cost of being bottom of the league," McCarthy said.

"It became a means to an end last year, and from Christmas onwards it was all about staying up. I said that privately, but not in public, because I didn't think that would help anybody.

"I'm not asking anyone to be patient. I think they've run out of patience. We'll have to just try and get them back on my side."

Tonight, Ipswich play their penultimate pre-season friendly away at Colchester United, with just 11 days to go before Birmingham City visit Portman Road in the Championship."

  18. Ipswich captain wary, despite positive signspublished at 17:02 British Summer Time 25 July 2017

    Graeme Mac
    BBC Radio Suffolk sport

Ahead of tonight's pre-season friendly at Colchester United, Ipswich Town captain Luke Chambers says he has been pleased by what he has seen from the squad so far this summer.

    Luke Chambers

"These last few weeks we have definitely improved in terms of our style of play," he told us. "The young boys have come in and made an impact and that gives us some encouragement going forward."

Given his dwindling popularity around Portman Road last season, there is probably more pressure on manager Mick McCarthy - compared with his Championship counterparts - to get off to a good start in the league next month.

Chambers admits that the boss will not be given much of a margin for error from a disgruntled section of Town supporters.

"I don't think you can be patient," he said. "We're in the league and every game is worth three points.

"If we're not winning games but playing entertaining football, will people still be happy? It's difficult. It's a double edged sword really."

  19. Corrie's mum 'reassured' following police meetingpublished at 16:37 British Summer Time 25 July 2017

Corrie Mckeague's mother, who along with his father had meetings with detectives last night, says she was "reassured" by what they told her.

    Nicola Urquhart

Nicola Urquhart said news that the landfill site at Milton won't be filled until a case review has been carried out was "massive".

"It gives us a chance to pause, to calm down and to find out how the police have come about this decision" she said.

"Thankfully they are now going to give us a family review.

"Most importantly, because their belief is that Corrie is still in the landfill, they are going to take us through how they've come about this decision and why they've decided to stop.

"It doesn't mean we will agree with them but we may understand why they have come to this decision."
