    Big budget movie "The Current War" is being filmed in Brighton this week. 

    The iconic Royal Pavilion is being used  to recreate the 1893 Chicago World Fair, where Thomas Edison and George Westinghouse battled for who would provide electricity across the US. 

    The film stars Benedict Cumberbatch, Michael Shannon, Tom Holland, Matthew Macfadyen, Tuppence Middleton and Nicholas Hoult.

  2. M23 closed for emergency repairspublished at 13:00 Greenwich Mean Time 2 February 2017

    The M23 in West Sussex is closed southbound between J8 for the M25 and J9 for Gatwick Airport. It's closed northbound between J10 for Crawley and J8. 

    It's for emergency work to an overhead power cable to be carried out.

    The motorway will remain closed until the works are complete.

    England’s Chief Inspector of General Practice has again rated a Hastings GP surgery as Inadequate and recommends the surgery stay in special measures following an inspection by the Care Quality Commission (CQC).       

    Dr Ankur Chopra’s practice at Roebuck House was inspected in July 2016 by a team which included a CQC lead inspector, a GP specialist adviser, a CQC pharmacy inspector and a practice manager specialist adviser.

    After a second inspection, the overall rating stays as Inadequate and remains in special measures.

  6. Dame Vera Lynn breaks own record with new album at 100published at 09:17 Greenwich Mean Time 2 February 2017

    Many people would celebrate turning 100 with a slice of cake and a glass of fizz - but Dame Vera Lynn is doing it by releasing a new album.

    She's breaking her own record, external in the process, having last put out an album at the age of 97, back in 2014.

    The singer, who lives in Ditchling, is known as the forces' sweetheart for entertaining troops during World War Two to boost morale.

    Police are looking for 25-year-old Jamie Reynolds from Brighton who is wanted on recall to prison.

    Reynolds was released on licence in December having been jailed for breaching a restraining order, battery and being convicted while a community order was in force. 

    He has failed to comply with licence conditions and is now wanted.
