    East Sussex County Council says by no longer being a provider for the Duke of Edinburgh's award scheme it can save nearly £300,000.

    But the proposal hasn't gone down well with young people.

    Here's what one student told us after the plans were revealed last month.

    Here are some of the headlines from East Sussex County Council's budget plans for 2017-18...

    • A third of the day centre budget for older people could be cut, saving £69,000;

    • A cut of £258,000 over two years to the Wealden Community Support Team, which supports adults with learning disabilities in their own homes;

    • Fewer family key workers and reduced opening hours for Children's Centres, saving over £1.3m;

    • Library opening hours reduced, saving £700,000;

    • No longer acting as a provider of the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme from 2018, which along with other measures will save £296,000;

    • Sharing more back office functions with Surrey County Council and Brighton and Hove City Council, saving nearly £1.5m.

    Remember, they are all plans at this stage. They will be debated by the council from 10:00 GMT.

    Ben Weisz
    Political reporter, BBC Sussex

    This is what the leader of the largest opposition group on East Sussex County Council told me when the plans were revealed last month.

    I'll be bringing you updates from 10:00 GMT.

    Quote Message

    Things have changed since October, which is good news. But there are still some high impact cuts in there which will hit the vulnerable in our community the hardest.

    Quote Message

    We're also concerned about cuts that are perhaps just being delayed a year until after the County Council elections, on such things as special educational needs and grass cutting."

    Cllr David Tutt, Leader of the Liberal Democrat Group, East Sussex County Council
