    A woman who witnessed an explosion at an address in Sunderland fears anyone inside the property may not have survived as all that's left is "rubble".

    Zara, from Rosslyn Avenue in Sunderland, said "the houses shook" after she heard a "very loud bang".

    She saw two houses following the explosion, one of which was "completely flattened" and the other "pretty much in half".

    She also described the chaotic scene, with people "running all over, not knowing what to do".

    Northumbria Police gave few details other than to say the explosion happened at a private address on Rosslyn Avenue.

    Reports on social media suggested half of the house had been destroyed and its roof "blown off".
