James Weighell has signed a two-year contract extension at Durham that will keep him in the north-east until the end of the 2020 season.
Weighell made his first-class debut for Durham in 2015 and has gradually established himself in the side across all three formats this year as he finished with 38 wickets.
News of the 23-year-old's decision comes a day after Durham announced the signing of Australian seamer Nathan Rimmington, 34, on a two-year contract.
Weighell said: "I'm delighted to have signed an extension with Durham and excited to help the club challenge for silverware.
"I feel happy with the progress I have made and feel I can now continue to develop my skills across all formats."
Head coach Jon Lewis added: "We've been impressed with James' development with both bat and ball and feel he can offer a lot to our bowling attack in red and white ball cricket."

A man stabbed his wife to death after she discovered he had developed a sexual interest in a child, a court has heard.
Newcastle Crown Court was told Adam Parkin stabbed his wife Julie 27 times at their Sunderland home on 26 June.
Parkin admitted murder earlier this month.
The court was told that primary school teacher Julie, 39, had discovered her husband, who is 35, had been making secret recordings of moving images of a child.
Prosecuting, Robert Smith QC told the court that on the evening of the murder the couple had gone for a walk and a drive to discuss what she had discovered.
And that Parkin claimed after those discussions he had in fact intended to kill himself but instead 'snapped' and turned the knife on his wife.
The hearing continues.
A blind man has been given an award for his environmental work.
Malcolm Watson’s disability has been no barrier to him in regularly removing weeds and picking up litter in his local neighbourhood in South Moor.
Mr Watson (pictured centre) has also campaigned on local issues such as bus shelters in need of repairs, rubbish bins being left out and overhanging trees, all of which have been addressed.
He has been given a caring for your environment award by Durham County Council.
Oliver Sherratt, chairman of the County Durham Environment Partnership, said: “I was so impressed that lack of sight has not affected Malcolm's passion for his neighbourhood, and what he has achieved has been for the benefit of the whole community, not just those that are blind or partially sighted.”

A monthly market due to be held in Middlesbrough tomorrow has been cancelled because of expected high winds.
The structures the Orange Pip Market requires, including stalls and the stage, cannot be put up in the conditions expected tomorrow, Middlesbrough Council said.
A spokesman said: “It’s devastating to have to cancel Orange Pip Market but public safety and that of our stallholders and our performers and artists is paramount - structures simply cannot be built in the forecasted conditions."
Orange Pip has been cancelled once before due to similar weather conditions on Christmas Eve last year. The market is expected to return as usual next month on 25 November.
About 18,000 people attended last year's event but the host airport said it lost money on it.

Michael Gove said he would the ensure the government takes "full account" of the concerns of those living in the surrounding area and the Scottish Borders before any progress is made.
An application was made earlier this year to reintroduce the animal to the British countryside for the first time in more than 1,000 years on a trial basis.
Some farmers have warned reintroducing lynx would damage the livelihoods of sheep farmers.
