A revolutionary treatment to ease the side effects from chemotherapy in children suffering from cancer is being rolled out nationally after being trialled in Newcastle.
For the past 18 months patients at the Great North Children's Hospital have been given a specially tailored drug service.
Blood samples are taken and assessed, and this allows clinicians to obtain vital information about how much chemotherapy individual young patients should receive.
These more accurate doses help prevent side effects such as nausea.

Plans for homes in a north Northumberland village have been approved.
The proposals for 13 homes on land north of Horsley Place in Christion Bank was first given the go-ahead in November 2017, despite a number of concerns voiced by locals.
It was one of a series of previously-approved schemes to go back before the North Northumberland Local Council for another decision last Thursday.
In each case, the permissions had not been finally signed off due to various issues to iron out, often the completion of a section 106 legal agreement.
