    More schools in County Durham have announced they will close today because of the weather.

    Newest additions to the list include:

  3. Schools close because of snowpublished at 07:18 Greenwich Mean Time 24 February 2020

    Several schools in County Durham have closed because of the weather.

    Elemore Hall School near Pittington will be closed all day due to snow covering the surrounding roads and ongoing heavy snowfall.

    The Grove Primary School and St Mary's RVCA Primary School in Consett and Oxhill Nursery School in Stanley are also closed for the day, as is Forest-in-Teesdale school and Wolsingham secondary school.

  4. Travel: Road closed because of crashpublished at 07:13 Greenwich Mean Time 24 February 2020

    The A68 is closed in both directions between Bildershaw and Houghton bank near West Auckland following a crash between a lorry and car.

    The area has also been hit by heavy snow with drivers urged to take care.
