A man has just finished a mammoth year-long fundraising effort which saw him walking a minimum of 10 miles a day every day in 2021.

Hundreds of people turned out to see him finish his last day's walk in Seaham earlier.

Bob's daughter Lauren Conway said: "The pandemic's made people value things like walking and cherishing being with their family and friends.

"My dad's got many friends who call him 'Bob the living legend' and he's just a lovely guy and I'm so proud of him."

  3. Officers break into car as doll mistaken for baby

Police broke into a car thinking a doll in a car seat was an abandoned baby.

Cleveland Police officers were called to an underground car park by a member of the public, worried that a baby had been left alone in a car.

As the driver of the car was not there, the force said officers broke a window and realised the baby was in fact a doll fastened into a child seat in back seat.

The force said it was not "embarrassed or inconvenienced" by the action and that the car owner would be reimbursed for the damaged window.

A spokesperson said: "We’d always rather establish a crime has not occurred than miss an opportunity to safeguard a child.

"Sadly people are too often cautious to report concerns about a child and we’d like to take the opportunity to say if you believe a child is at risk, please call us on 101."
