Spokeswoman for the charity, Debbie Coulson, said the coronavirus pandemic had made fundraising difficult.
She said that last year the charity, in Northgate Road, Middlesbrough, raised more than £28,000 by collecting and recycling 2,000 Christmas trees and urged people to donate again this year.
Ms Coulson said: "Every single penny, not just pound that people donate is put to good use and directly supports people here on Teesside.
"I feel very privileged to see what a difference that money makes to lives.
"We've been here for the last 40 years because we've had the support of the local community."
