Having failed to take a wicket in the afternoon session, Durham managed to make the breakthrough in the third over after tea.

Ben Raine, who is often a partnership breaker, had the keeper come up to the stumps and got Kai Smith LBW for 62.

The 147 put on by Smith and Ed Barnard beat the sixth wicket record for Warwickshire v Durham. That was set by Dougie Brown and Nick Smith at Edgbaston in 1998. It was 132.

Is the balance of power about to sway again in this game?

In came Michael Booth who made 58* in the Warwickshire first innings. All four results remain a possibility.

Ed Barnard and Kai Smith have added over 100 runs for Warwickshire's sixth wicket so far, rescuing them from the mess of 90-5 before lunch.

In the first innings, Smith who is playing in only his second championship match, put on 115 runs with Michael Booth for the seventh wicket. He's looked steady and assured throughout the game.

The ball is now 60 overs old and on this slowish track there's nothing doing for the bowlers at the moment.

Following a flurry of wickets just before lunch, there's been nothing since.

Kai Smith and Ed Barnard are batting nicely and eating up overs on this final day in CLS. Their 50 partnership has come in 83 balls.

There are 55 overs left in the day and The Bears need another 199 to win at 3.6 an over. That side of things is doable. But a wicket or two will change things greatly. Durham just need to keep plugging away and believe the wickets will come.

Matthew Potts is playing in his 50th First Class match for Durham and has just notched his 200th FC wicket for them.

He returned to the attack in the 30th over and got Sam Hain with his first ball. It was a casual waft which saw the batsman caught behind for two. Next ball Dan Mousley guided a catch to Daniel Hogg at mid-on to get a first-baller.

Ed Barnard saw off the hat-trick ball, but moments after that Ben Raine struck again to get Hamza Shaikh caught behind for 28. Earlier Raine bowled Rob Yates for three and got Alex Davies LBW for 50.

Davies fell in the 25th over and his dismissal sparked a collapse of 4-9 in six overs. It's now lunch.

Warwickshire have reached 50 in their pursuit of 339 to beat Durham on the final day. It took them an hour and two minutes.

There's still plenty of time left with 84 overs remaining but we have also seen a reminder of why it is not wise to leave a ball on this track. Rob Yates was on three when he did that to a delivery from Ben Raine which was also heading towards off-stump.

Meanwhile at the other end Alex Davies is batting nicely and timing the ball well and has so far hit eight fours.

Brendan Doggett replaced Ben Raine at The Lumley End but clearly didn't like running into a stiff breeze, so he's now switched ends and will have the wind on his back instead.

Police say the animal has since been removed from the site by the local authority.

It certainly feels a lot fresher this morning at The Riverside. We've got a stiff southerly wind which is rattling through the stands and it feels a lot cooler than the 14C suggested for the final day of this match.

However, the rain forecast during the last two days does not appear to be heading in our direction anymore, which means we should get a full day in.

Warwickshire saw out their four overs last night without loss and need to bat at 3.39 runs per over to win this one. It's a track which is not the fastest and it's one in which the batsmen will have to graft for their runs.

From a bowling point of view, there's a little bit in it and there's some low bounce at times. But again, they are going to have to work hard to take 10 wickets in the day. And running into that wind from the Lumley End will be no fun at all.
