The sun's still shining in Scarborough this afternoon - but it's also a bit windy. 

After having said that, it wouldn't be the true Yorkshire coast experience without a bracing breeze to contend with.

Despite that, Phoebe, 6, from Sheffield and her grandma, Judith, from Huddersfield, are having a great holiday here.

Judith tells me: "Scarborough is family-friendly and fun. It has everything: brilliant beaches and activities."

Harrogate Town left back Louie Swain has signed for Spennymoor Town. 

The 21-year-old has decided to join the club to try and secure more regular first team football, despite being offered terms by Harrogate.

In a statement on the club's website, external, Town manager Simon Weaver says: "I'd like to wish the lad all the best at his new club.

Louie is a player I've always had a lot of time for, and I'm sure he'll do really well for Spennymoor."

The union that represents ambulance staff in North Yorkshire says people who attack crews should face tougher penalties.

It comes as BBC Radio York reveals there've been more than 50 attacks on paramedics, drivers and technicians in North Yorkshire in the past three years. 

Concussion, bites and being run over by a car are just some of the incidents that have taken place, but it's feared some attacks are going unreported.

Ray Gray, from Unison, the union which represents many ambulance and NHS staff in North Yorkshire, says staff need to be encouraged to report every incident.

We'll continue to see bright and breezy conditions throughout the afternoon with prolonged spells of sunshine but are also at risk of one or two isolated showers.

In Scarborough, local resident Jade Binnie is at her shellfish stall waiting for the customers.

Business has been slower than normal today, she tells me - and it's all because of the nice weather.

This being Yorkshire, today's the first bit of decent sunshine we've seen for a while.

It's been an anxious 48 hours for the organisers of the Thornton le Dale show who have kept an eye on the weather forecast, as 15,000 visitors are expected to attend today.

However, as you can see, so far the rain's held off and the sun is shining.

This is the 97th Thornton le Dale show and organisers are already planning for their centenary in 2019.    

I snuck in before the gates opened at 09:00 and managed to lure a couple of beautiful owls from the falconry display to perch for a photo.

The little owl on the left is in fact a Little Owl called Percy and Lizzie, the bigger owl, is from Africa and is a Verreaux's Eagle Owl.

I'm in Scarborough and I've Just met a lovely lady called Shahla - on holiday from Dubai!

She says it's "amazing" here and the weather is a "relief" from Dubai because you can breathe.

The nature and views are another draw, she tells me: "It's so green with lovely views. Dubai has sandy beaches, yes, but also tower blocks. We don't have this kind of nature."

And she's the third person to tell me that she likes it here because of the buildings and architecture.

Plumpton Rocks, external near Harrogate, the renowned Grade 2* listed garden which is considered to be one of the finest 18th century landscapes in the north of England, has just completed a major restoration programme, external.

The gardens, described by Queen Mary as "Heaven on Earth", are also making a starring role as Wild Cat Island in the BBC's new feature-length film adaptation of Swallows and Amazons which will be released next month.

People are being asked for their views on the latest designs for a £12m redevelopment of York's Guildhall which have gone on show today. 

The council moved its offices out of the complex in 2013, although full council meetings are still held there.

The building alongside the River Ouse was originally built in the 15th century, but had to be extensively rebuilt after it was destroyed by fire in an air raid on the city in 1942.  

It's now set to become a "state-of-the-art venue for business,"  which will include offices, a cafe and a restaurant. 

The Grade I and Grade II* listed building, could suffer "permanent and irrevocable" damage if left unchecked, according to a council report.

The council will need to borrow £10m for the scheme, but has said it could generate 120 new jobs.

At today's event, residents can also meet the project manager who will be on hand to provide more information about the scheme and answer any questions.

A couple of travel updates for you from North Yorkshire:

Drivers are being warned of heavy traffic on A1237 York Outer Ring Road eastbound between the A19 Shipton Road junction in Rawcliffe and the Monks Cross Link junction in Huntington.  

And there's currently queuing traffic on the A64 York Bypass northbound between Grimston Bar Interchange in York and the Towthorpe Moor Lane junction in Stockton on the Forest.

Britain in Bloom judges are in Filey today with the town hoping to pick up an award this year. 

A total of 72 towns and villages across the UK have entered the competition.

The judges are also due in Harrogate later this month and the two North Yorkshire towns will find out how they've fared in October when the results will be announced.

More now on fears ambulance workers in North Yorkshire are not reporting being attacked while on duty.

BBC Radio York has been given details of more than 50 attacks on ambulance staff over the last three years in North Yorkshire. 

The incidents include punching, biting, kicking and even being run over by a car.

Mark Inman is the head of emergency operations for the Yorkshire Ambulance Service in North Yorkshire and he says respect should be shown to ambulance crews.

The organisation which promotes York and  North Yorkshire as a tourist destination has turned to pooch power to give its advertising a new "leash" of life.

Visit York is bringing out a series of short films starring Yorkie, a Yorkshire Terrier who we follow as he embarks on his walkies.

The trailer for the series of canine perspectives of the historic city and the county's most iconic sights was released at midnight.

Hello from sunny Scarborough on the north east coast of England - the country's first seaside resort.

I'm joining reporters from across the country to bring you a taster of seaside life in summer 2016.

Right now, I'm on top of Oliver's Mount - the highest point in Scarborough. This is what I can see:

From here, you can see as far as Ravenscar and Robin Hood's Bay in the north, southwards towards the Sea Life Centre (the white pyramids) at the North Bay, and round to the headland with Scarborough Castle and on to South Bay.
