Pupils at Yearsley Grove Primary School are planning a variety of activities to spread kindness at the school and elsewhere in the city.

A councillor calling for improvements to safeguarding for vulnerable people is three days into a hunger strike.

Cars, bikes, buses, sightseeing tours - there are so many different ways of getting around York these days, and to that list you can now add the tuk tuk.

You're more likely to see one of these motorised rickshaws in Bangkok or Mumbai, but Steve Coldrick has brought a couple to the city to give people a different way of getting around.

I've just had a ride on one and this is how my journey went:

Several residential homes across North Yorkshire have been suspended due to concerns about standards of care, BBC Radio York has learned.

The suspension means eight out of North Yorkshire's 270 care homes are currently not allowed to take on new residents, according to North Yorkshire County Council.

Richard Webb, the authority's corporate director for health and adult services, says despite the suspensions, "North Yorkshire's care homes are generally very good":

The disappearance of a 20-year-old student from York is "completely out of character", police have said.

Ethan Peters hasn't been seen since just before midnight on Sunday in Coney Street, York.

Officers are currently examining CCTV footage taken in the area at the time and an underwater team is now due to search the River Foss this afternoon, police have confirmed.

Insp Martin Metcalfe says: "Ethan's not been seen since Sunday and his disappearance is completely out of character.

"We're working closely with his family and providing support to them during this difficult time."

Anyone who thinks they've seen Mr Peters since Sunday, or anyone with information about his whereabouts, is being asked to contact police as soon as possible.

More on the news that an underwater team is due to search the River Foss this afternoon as police extend their search for a missing York man.

Ethan Peters, 20, was last seen at about 23:55 on Sunday night in Coney Street, York. 

Mr Peters, who lives in the Hull Road area, is described as about 5ft 7ins tall, and has dark brown hair. 

He was last seen wearing glasses, jeans or chinos, a black jacket and a navy blue polo shirt.

Police say it's "vital" for anyone who thinks they've seen him since Sunday - or has any other information - to contact the force immediately.

The search for a missing man from York is to be extended to the River Foss this afternoon, police have just confirmed.

Farmers in Yorkshire are using GPS in their tractors which could eventually help pave the way for driverless vehicles.

The Ordnance Survey and a farming machinery company are forming a new partnership today and claim it will mean very precise GPS tracking which never loses a signal. 

David Tite, from Driffield Agricultural Society, says it will help farmers get more out of their crops: 

Does this mean that eventually farmers could simply pre-programme the vehicle, sit back and watch the tractor plough the field on its own?

Police have now issued this latest picture of Ethan Peters, 20, who lives on Hull Road, and who was last seen at about 23:55 on Sunday in Coney Street, York.

Mr Peters is described as slim, 5ft 7ins tall, with dark brown hair. He was last seen wearing glasses, jeans or chinos, a black jacket and a navy blue polo shirt.

Police are appealing for anyone who has seen someone matching his description, or who knows of his whereabouts, to get in touch immediately.

I'm on the Greek island of Kos where the search for missing Yorkshire toddler Ben Needham is now in its 10th day.

The 21-month-old, from Sheffield, went missing in 1991.  

Ben's family believe he was abducted, but police are investigating whether he was accidentally killed.  

Ben's grandfather, Eddie, is due visit the farmland later where the search is taking place.

It comes as the team working on the case search through the rubble of the extension of a farmhouse built after Ben disappeared.

This morning I'm celebrating the success of a couple of young women from Northallerton who are two of only four women competing in the world of Rallycross.

Paige and Drew Bellerby have both been racing since they were 14 and have their sights set on eventually competing against the best in the world.

It comes as John Clark, a North Yorkshire County councillor begins the third day of a hunger strike highlighting a case involving an elderly care home resident in Scarborough.

Mr Clark says he doesn't believe her case has been investigated properly:

North Yorkshire police says it's undertaken a thorough investigation, but "didn't find any wrongdoing" at the home and the case was dropped by the Crown Prosecution Service.

The Care Quality Commission has told us they are in touch with the family concerned.

A "frame football" team that helps children with cerebral palsy play has finished its first ever season.

Some of the young players in the Scarborough-based club use special frames on wheels designed for speed and agility,

Money to establish the club came from a local housing charity and it is now supported by the town's football team, Scarborough Athletic.
