  2. Future of the futurist: Scarborough landmark's demolition 'not a done deal'published at 10:33 Greenwich Mean Time 1 December 2016

    Andrew Barton
    BBC Local Live, York

Campaigners fighting to save the landmark Futurist Theatre in Scarborough from demolition say they're "not giving up the fight yet".

A decision by Scarborough Borough Council to close the theatre came after the publication of a report in June 2013 which said the site was "beyond the point" of refurbishment.

The final curtain came down on the building in January 2014 and a decision's due next month over whether to knock it down so a new attraction with a rollercoaster and other activities can be built on the site.

But campaigners who want to retain the 1920s building as a theatre and cinema are asking people to lobby those in power ahead of any final decision.

They're also putting pull-out features into local newspapers and writing directly to councillors ahead of the crucial meeting.

Campaigner Adam Flynn has told BBC Radio York's Georgey Spanswick he believes the demolition decision is "not a done deal":

Thousands of people are homeless across the Yorkshire and Humber region, a new report from the charity Shelter says.

Richmondshire in North Yorkshire is the worst place in our region for it, when compared to the number of people who live there.

Shelter estimates there are 54 people without a home in the Richmondshire district.

Harrogate and Scarborough are also in the top five for Yorkshire and the Humber, while York is ranked eighth with 126 homeless people within the city.

Kate Wallace, from Shelter, says that in Richmondshire one in 936 people is homeless:

After reading fraud advice online, Nancy went to police at the start of September, but by this time more than £300,000 had gone.

No arrests have been made over the crime, also known as "catfishing".

  9. Watch: Owl's well that ends well thanks to North Yorkshire Policepublished at 08:24 Greenwich Mean Time 1 December 2016

    Andrew Barton
    BBC Local Live, York

Earlier this week, a North Yorkshire Police officer had to offer a very gentle, persuasive, late night helping hand to one of our feathered friends

As you can see in this video, it looks like they were in the right place at the right time to prevent a possible squishing of this sedentary barn owl on the A170 near Helmsley.

I've come across several barn owls just sitting in the middle of the road over the last few months - all of them flew away happily enough in their own sweet time.

I know of other people who've seen the same thing, too. I wonder what's going on? I'm going to get in touch with a wildlife expert to find out more and I'll tell you what they have to say.

For now, though, owl's well that ends well...

After failing to beat Guiseley, the team with the worst away record in the top five divisions of English football, the Minstermen travel to promotion chasing Tranmere at the weekend.

Mills says: "We've got to start picking up points, we're going to a tough place on Saturday but we've got to show we've got the battling qualities to get something at Tranmere.

"We have to stay positive. There's a long, long way to go and, as manager, I'm working to try and get it right and hopefully we can start wining games."

I looked in there a little while ago and it's rammed full of rouge! I'll create a gallery of images of the burning sky later.

Let's start with this picture from the aptly named Big Red, of the sky above Farnley, near Harrogate.

  20. Wall of support for devastated heritage projectpublished at 14:22 Greenwich Mean Time 30 November 2016

    Joanita Musisi
    Reporter, BBC Radio York

Plans to restore an historic house in York's West Bank Park are continuing even though a fire gutted the building three weeks ago.

The blaze took place at the site of a heritage project commemorating the work of James Backhouse, who ran his world famous plant nurseries there in the 18th century.

Before the fire, volunteers had spent the last four years working to restore the house.

I've been finding out more about where the project goes from here - and how the local community is showing its support with a wall of "leaves":
