Training has begun for the crew of a new £2m lifeboat which has arrived at its new home on the North Yorkshire coast.
The Shannon Class lifeboat reached Scarborough after travelling up from Poole in Dorset, on the south coast.
Thousands of people gathered in the harbour yesterday to welcome the crew to the new lifeboat station which has been built to house it.
Funded by donations from the F W Plaxton Charitable Trust, the lifeboat was named after the founder of Scarborough coach building firm Plaxton Ltd in his memory.
