  1. Man dies after being hit by two carspublished at 09:59 Greenwich Mean Time 30 October 2017

    A man has died after being hit by two cars on Saturday night near Sheffield.

    The 33-year-old was walking along Ringinglow Road at around 22:15, when he was hit by a silver Chrysler Grand Voyage.

    The pedestrian was then hit in a separate incident shortly after by a blue Jaguar S-Type.

    He died in the early hours of Sunday morning in hospital.

    Police are appealing for information.

    Two teenagers from Northallerton have been arrested on suspicion of preparing for an act of terrorism.

    The 14-year-olds were taken to police station in West Yorkshire on Saturday for questioning.

    Police are searching a number of properties in North Yorkshire.

    There are big delays on our trains this morning.

    Vandals and an overnight lineside fire are to blame near Conisbrough causing a lot of damage to signalling equipment.

    There are no trains between Swinton and Doncaster as repairs are carried out.

    We live in a very picturesque part of world, so it's no surprise that one corner of Yorkshire leads the 2018 Countryfile calendar.

    Kevin Dolby, from Maltby, took the judges' favourite photograph when he entered a snowy photo of deer at Stainborough Park, Barnsley, it into the competition to appear in the calendar.

    They clearly liked it so much, it now sits proudly as the photo for January 2018.

    Arsonists have targeted a former fire station in Sheffield.

    It happened at 16:00 yesterday on Mansfield Road, near Woodthorpe.

    Firefighters were called out to reports of a fire in one of the sections of the building.

    South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue say the fire was deliberate.

  6. Yorkshire takes two gold awards at Britain in Bloompublished at 08:54 Greenwich Mean Time 30 October 2017

    After a lot of hard work, gardeners in Harrogate and Hutton Cranswick can now pause to smell the roses.

    Both towns scooped a gold award at the Royal Horticultural Society’s (RHS) Britain in Bloom UK Finals.

    Harrogate took home a gold award in the 'Champion of Champions' section, while Hutton in Cranswick won gold in the 'Large Village' category.

    Three other Yorkshire towns also won Silver Gilt awards. Otley took home the prize in the 'Town' category, Starbeck won in the 'Urban Community' category, and Whitby won a Silver Gilt in the 'Coastal' category.

    Police have released images, external of the men they want to speak to in connection with an armed robbery in Tingley.

    Four masked men carrying weapons robbed the Tesco Express on Westerton Road at around 22:45.

    They took money and cigarettes, before fleeing in a green Renault Clio, which had cloned registration plates.

  8. Bid to improve South Bay water qualitypublished at 08:08 Greenwich Mean Time 30 October 2017

    New water sampling equipment could help identify the source of pollution and improve the water quality in Scarborough.

    Human, seabird and dog waste are the main sources of pollution in Scabrorough's South Bay, according to a report from the National Laboratory Service.

    The water quality in the bay was officially rated as poor by the Environment Agency last year and it lost its blue flag bathing status.

    Councillor Mike Cockerill, from Scarborough Borough Council, says it's essential to try and get the problem sorted:

  9. IVF: Patients in Yorkshire 'face postcode lottery for treatment'published at 07:55 Greenwich Mean Time 30 October 2017

    Nearly 90% of clinical commissioning groups (CCGs) fail to offer would-be-mothers the recommended three cycles of IVF treatment, new figures show.

    In South Yorkshire 80% of CCGs will offer patients more than one round of IVF Treatment.

    But patients in West or North Yorkshire not offered more than one round of IVF treatment by their CCGs.

    Only 24 of 208 CCGs in England meet national guidelines, and seven offer no treatment at all.

    Sarah Long, from Huddersfield, where patients are offered one cycle, said her only hope of having a child was to "move or save the money".

    Sarah and her husband Nathan have been trying for a baby for about seven years. They had one unsuccessful round of IVF in 2015 and local health commissioners say they are not entitled to any further attempts.

    Mr Long said: "There's no difference between us and the person 20 miles down the road other than the fact they bought a house down there and we didn't. That's what hurts."

    The Bradford College has become one of the first colleges in England to be awarded Lead Associate School status by the Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC).

    The RSC says Lead Associate Schools will teach Shakespeare at all levels, including to senior leadship.

    The college will work with schools in the city over the next two years to perform Shakespeare plays.

    Police have named a 19-year-old man who was killed following a crash between his car and and a van in North Yorkshire.

    Jordan Bowes form Great Broughton died at the scene of the crash on the B1257 near Stokesley on Wednesday.

    The road was closed for a number of hours.

    Officers are appealing for drivers who may have captured dash-cam footage or witnessed the two vehicles to get in touch.

    Watch out if you're travelling between Doncaster and Sheffield today as services may be cancelled or delayed. Vandalism and a fire, external at Conisbrough last night has caused damage to signalling equipment which now requires repair.

    National Rail say CrossCountry services are being diverted between York and Sheffield and will not call at Doncaster.

    Northern will also be running a limited train service between Sheffield - Swinton - Doncaster in both directions.

    Double check your journey if you're planning to use the TransPennine Express service between Cleethorpes and Manchester Airport.

    Coaches will replace TransPennine Express trains between Doncaster and Sheffield.

    Elswhere the trains seem to be running smoothly with one or two delays.
