Ch Insp Gordon McCalmont, who is in charge of tonight's policing operation, says about 200 officers will be involved.
He said it's a night that's "not without its challenges" but also "thoroughly enjoyable".

One of the organisers has told BBC News NI Live that, so far, there are already an estimated 10,000 people gathered in the city for tonight's Halloween celebrations, with numbers expected to build.
Tonight is the culmination of a three-day festival and the organiser added that over the weekend, an estimated 40,000 people have attended Halloween festival events in Derry.

Derry/Londonderry is known by many names - Stroke city; the Maiden city; Doire; Foyle; even Legenderry but tonight it is the "City of Bones".
The City of Bones street carnival parade will make its way along Queen’s Quay from 19:00.

Rory Best could win his 100th cap for Ireland in November's autumn series - and Ulster coach Les Kiss says he's "hugely deserving" of the honour.
Best will win his 98th cap if he plays against New Zealand this Saturday in Chicago. "He's had his injuries in his time, but he's robust, resilient and just keeps coming, keeps working hard to improve each year," says Kiss.
Not long to go now - Derry's Halloween parade begins at 19:00 at the council's car park on Queen's Quay.
The route includes Boating Club Lane, Strand Road, Harbour Square roundabout and back to Queen's Quay for the fireworks display.
