    To recap, David Cameron has said he and India's PM Narendra Modi have "big ambitions" for UK-Indian relations.

    Speaking at a joint press conference at the start of Mr Modi's visit to the UK, Mr Cameron announced deals between UK and Indian firms worth more than £9bn.

    The leaders said they would collaborate on issues including finance, defence, nuclear power and climate change.

    Mr Modi, who is visiting for three days, said India's relationship with the UK was of "immense importance".

    More than 200 writers including Salman Rushdie, Val McDermid and Ian McEwan have called on David Cameron to address India's "rising climate of fear" with its Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during his three-day visit to the UK.

    An open letter, external has been published by Pen International as Mr Modi flies into the UK for a three-day visit.

    The writers have expressed concern over the "growing intolerance and violence towards critical voices" in India.

    They want to urge Mr Modi to "safeguard freedom of expression".

    For David Cameron, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to the UK is personal.

    Leading British officials involved with the visit underline that Mr Modi's three days in the UK - 12-14 November - is all about convincing the Indian leader that Britain is a friend like none other.

    Equally, it is about establishing a deeper connection between the two prime ministers, one that they do not share at present.

    Apart from the many memorandums that will be signed and business deals worth $15bn (£9.9bn) agreed, the idea is to provide Mr Cameron and Mr Modi space to relate better with each other.

    Mr Modi says this is "a huge moment for our two great nations" and says the UK and India should "seize the opportunities" and "remove obstacles" to cooperation. Doing so will ensure the relationship "counts as one of the leading global partnerships", he adds.     PM Modi says the progress of India "is the destiny of one sixth of humanity". He says it is also "natural and inevitable that our economic relations will grow by leaps and bounds".
