During the press conference, the prime minister announced that Britain has agreed a five-year partnership with India to help develop the cities of Amravati, Indore and Pune.
Mr Cameron said that British and Indian companies had announced new collaborations worth a total of more than £9bn during Prime Minister Modi's visit to the UK.
He said he wanted Britain to become India's "number one partner" in raising finance for Mr Modi's plan to create 100 "smart cities" across the country, with the City of London establishing itself as the world's centre for trading in India's rupee currency.
David Cameron says that for years the relationship between Britain and India has "in some way been imprisoned by the past" and in recent years by "misconceptions that trade with India is simply about outsourcing".
It's time to "set this relationship free", he adds. He says he's "excited" to be signing "so many different agreements across a wide range of areas".
As the press conference draws to a close, the PM tells reporters the two men have a packed schedule for the rest of day.

Speaking at a press conference in the Foreign Office, David Cameron says he and Indian Prime Minister Modi have discussed how to build a stronger economic, defence and global partnership.
