BNP spokesman Stephen Squire said: "It's the first I've heard of it - it's obviously an oversight."

  20. Labour MP: Drop food to starving Syrianspublished at 16:20

    The World at One
    BBC Radio 4

    Media caption,

The UK must be ready to drop food in besieged Madaya if necessary, says Labour MP Jo Cox.

The UK needs to be ready to do RAF food drops in the besieged Syrian city of Madaya "if necessary", Labour MP Jo Cox has told Radio 4's World at One.

The former head of policy for Oxfam said that the United Nations (UN) response on the ground had not been robust enough and that the organisation had interpreted its mandate to deliver aid "incredibly weakly".

"The UN has that authority to go in and break these sieges and deliver that much needed aid", and it should be doing so "right now", she told presenter Mark Mardell.

"Two, three, four days wait for the UN to have access to Madaya is too long," she added.
