  2. PM accused of negativity over EU votepublished at 12:37 British Summer Time 15 June 2016

    House of Commons
    Parliament

    EU matters continue to dominate.

A Tory MP says he will be visiting 25 schools next week to talk to pupils about the EU vote and asks what the PM's advice would be. The PM thanks the MP for his efforts and says his belief that the UK would be empowered and strengthened in the world by staying in.

But then Jack Lopresti accuses Downing Street of negativity over the EU and reads back the PM's comments earlier this year to the CBI that the UK could survive outside the EU.

The PM says he still believes that the UK could survive outside the EU but the issue is where the best opportunities and says "all the best arguments" are on the Remain side.

    House of Commons
    Parliament

A question from the SDLP's Alasdair McDonnell about the risk of border controls between Ireland and Northern Ireland in the event of Brexit, saying urgent clarification is needed about what will happen. The PM says there is a common travel area between the countries at the moment and this could be endangered - one of the many threats from EU exit, he adds.

  8. PM and minister on immigrationpublished at 12:34 British Summer Time 15 June 2016

    House of Commons
    Parliament

A bit more from the Work and Pensions Secretary Stephen Crabb, speaking to the BBC earlier.

Speaking in favour of free movement, he said: "There are parts of the country now with effectively full employment  where companies and bosses are saying 'give us more workers'.

"And, of course, they're going to hire talented Europeans when they come here wanting to work."

He added: "I don't have a problem with people coming here wanting to do jobs that there aren't British people to fill."

The prime minister also spoke positively in favour of immigration during PMQs:

  9. Labour MP: More spin than a potter's wheelpublished at 12:32 British Summer Time 15 June 2016

    House of Commons
    Parliament

Labour's Ruth Smeeth says ceramics firms in her Stoke constituency are worried about the impact of EU exit despite the Remain campaign coming up with "more spin than a potter's wheel". She wonders who will be there to "pick up the pieces" in the event of Brexit. David Cameron compliments her on a "good soundbite" and suggests he might try to "nick that one". He goes on to say firms in the Potteries will clearly damaged by leaving the EU and it is not a risk worth taking.

  10. Comfortpublished at 12:30 British Summer Time 15 June 2016

Sir Philip Green says he took comfort from the advisory firms - Grant Thornton and Olswang - acting on behalf of Mr Chappell, but that he now thinks they didn't know him "from a hole in the wall".

  11. Cameron: Election victory 'happy days'published at 12:29 British Summer Time 15 June 2016

    House of Commons
    Parliament

Next up is the Conservative Kelly Tolhurst who asks about plans for the Lower Thames Crossing in her constituency. The PM praises Ms Tolhurst, who is a Remain campaigner, and says every time she asks a question in the Commons he is reminded of her victory in last year's general election - happy days he says, a touch nostalgically.

  14. Tory Nuttall presses PM on migration commitmentpublished at 12:27 British Summer Time 15 June 2016

    House of Commons
    Parliament

The first question from a Tory Eurosceptic is from David Nuttall. He asks, given the government's "enthusiasm for predictions and forecasts", when the PM hopes to meet the party's commitment to reduce net migration to the tens of thousands.

In response, the PM says efforts need to be made to reduce migration from both inside and outside the EU - differentiating between "sensible" measures such as reducing the pull factor for migrants by limiting benefits and steps that he says are not so sensible - such as pulling out of the EU and damaging the economy.

  16. EU questions come thick and fastpublished at 12:23 British Summer Time 15 June 2016

    House of Commons
    Parliament

There are a stream of questions on the EU now. The SNP's Angus Robertson presses his party's case for the benefits of EU membership to Scotland while Tory Mike Freer hits out at Nigel Farage's comments on EU issues and says it is true that the UK's security will be "helped not hindered" by staying in the EU.

Labour's George Howarth then asks about the risk to the NHS of leaving. The PM responds by saying the UK will experience a remain dividend on 24 June but there is no financial benefit from leaving.

  18. PM: A pint of beer needed during 'gruelling campaign'published at 12:21 British Summer Time 15 June 2016

    House of Commons
    Parliament

That's the leaders' exchanges over with both men urging voters to stick with the EU. A moment of light relief is needed after that and it comes in the shape of Amanda Solloway who brings up the support of a brewer in her constituency for EU membership. The PM notes he made a recent visit to a brewery and a pint of beer is one of the best antidotes to what has been a "gruelling campaign".

  19. Geldof protest 'a shameful sight', says Nigel Faragepublished at 12:21 British Summer Time 15 June 2016

More on the Thames tit-for-tat. Nigel Farage has branded Sir Bob Geldof's protest against his protest "just disgusting".

Referring to the fishermen campaigning for Leave, the UKIP leader said: "These are communities that have been devastated. These are communities that no-one has listened to for years.

"They are here today, they have taken - some of them - several days out of their working week to come and make their protest, to say, 'Look, we want to take back control of our seas, we want to get jobs back in this industry.'

"To see multi-millionaires frankly mocking them is a pretty shameful sight."

  20. PM: Brexit would send UK 'into a tailspin'published at 12:18 British Summer Time 15 June 2016

    House of Commons
    Parliament

    David CAmeron

In response, the PM says that "no-one wants to see an emergency budget, tax rises and spending cuts" but the only thing worse than addressing the financial shock that would arise from a vote to leave the EU would be to "ignore it".

Next week's vote is a big choice and there are consequences from that, he says, urging people not to take the risk of leaving and sending confidence in the UK economy "into a tailspin".
