The PM said unlike Mr Corbyn she was optimistic about the prospects of Britain pro-Brexit and how the economy will grow outside the EU.

    House of Commons
    Parliament

Mrs May says people who come to this country to use the NHS should pay for those services if they are supposed to - as she defends the eligibility checks being proposed in hospitals. The checks would not be needed if it's an emergency, she adds.

Mrs May says he's asked this before, and says the government wants to get the best deal possible with maximum access for British firms to trade with and within the European market, but adds the government believes it should deliver on what the referendum showed the British people wanted - control of the free movement of people.

  20. Leave supporter: 'MPs must be allowed a vote before Article 50 triggered'published at 11:55 British Summer Time 12 October 2016

    The Daily Politics

MPs must be allowed a vote on the government’s Brexit negotiating strategy before triggering Article 50, Tory MP Stephen Phillips has said.

Mr Phillips – a Leave supporter – said there should be a debate lasting several days on the “broad negotiating position” the government intends to adopt, followed by a vote.

    Quote Message

The implications of the government not having the support of the House are that it will get to the end of the process and it may not secure the approval of Parliament for everything it needs to do to unpick our relationship with the European Union. So it’s actually in the government’s interests at this stage… to come to Parliament and get Parliament’s approval as to the broad negotiating position it intends to adopt.”
