  1. Listen again: John Healey wouldn't use the word murderpublished at 12:43 British Summer Time 26 June 2017

    Today Programme
    BBC Radio 4

Labour's Shadow Chancellor John McDonnell has said the victims of the Grenfell Tower fire “were murdered by political decisions that were taken over recent decades”.

John Healey, the former shadow housing secretary, says he would not use the word "murder" because it is "not yet possible to direct cause and effect".

However, he says he agrees with his colleague that there is "a run down of social housing" a "cut in the capacity of councils and emergency services" and "resistance to any fresh regulation when it's needed".

  7. Deal may not affect Barnet formulapublished at 12:27 British Summer Time 26 June 2017

    Laura Kuenssberg
    BBC political editor

Sources close to the deal suggest the agreement may not affect the so-called Barnet formula - which governs the distribution of public spending across the UK nations - because most of the money will go to specific projects rather than general spending.

DUP sources also point to the creation of the "coordination committee" as giving them a direct line in to government discussions. This may prove particularly influential over the Brexit negotiations.

The DUP agreement also promises a review in two years' time, which could theoretically be an opportunity for the DUP to extract more concessions.

Sources also hope the deal might make it easier for the two sides in Northern Ireland to reach an agreement, because it eases up constraints on public spending.

  11. Will Westminster 'largesse' win over Sinn Fein?published at 12:13 British Summer Time 26 June 2017

    The Daily Politics

    Mark Devenport

"Whatever the initial offer was, the DUP were looking for more," says BBC Northern Ireland's political editor, Mark Devenport.

The party will be pleased with an additional £1bn in spending commitments, he says, though it hasn't secured a commitment on tax rates at this stage.

Mark asks: "Will this largesse from Westminster be enough to persuade Sinn Fein that they should get into a power-sharing executive again with the DUP?"

  20. A 'very different' arrangement to the 2010 coalitionpublished at 11:47 British Summer Time 26 June 2017

Nick Clegg and David Cameron appeared friendly when the Tories and Lib Dems made a deal in 2010

BBC political correspondent Chris Mason contrasts the scene in Downing Street with the coalition deal reached between the Tories and the Lib Dems in 2010.

He says reporters were not invited into the garden this time, nor were there "two podiums with both leaders standing next to each other sounding chummy and friendly".

Instead, the DUP spoke first and departed, showing "in visual terms, how different this arrangement is".
