Green Party co-leader Jonathan Bartley tells the BBC he hopes to establish the Greens as one of the four parties who hold seats across the country but that it is "tough".

Professor Travers said: "It's quite a big majority, and a council with low council tax and good services"

"For labour to win it would be a big exercise, and it would be a massive shock."

  9. EU referendum effect?published at 00:59 British Summer Time 4 May 2018

    Professor Sir John Curtice
    Polling expert

So far the Conservative vote is only up by two points on average in council areas where less than 55% voted Leave in 2016. In contrast, the party's vote is up by 12 points in places where more than 55% voted Leave.

Meanwhile, the Labour vote is up by seven points on average in places where less than 55% voted Leave, while its vote is up by four points in places where more than 55% did so. It looks as though the shadow of the EU referendum is going to be apparent in these elections in the way that they were in last year's general election.

    Tim Donovan
    BBC London, Political Editor

Labour hasn't been in power here since 1978. It came close in '86. Since then it's almost lost hope. It's been regarded as a really important borough for the Conservatives so, if they were to lose it tonight, that loss would have rumblings beyond this town hall in SW18.
