  14. Theresa May's No 10 statement: In quotespublished at 18:07 Greenwich Mean Time 15 November 2018

    Quote Message

In achieving these objectives I'm also determined to protect the things that are important to us: protect the hundreds of thousands of manufacturing jobs that put food on the tables of working families right across the UK, those jobs rely on cross-border trade in goods with parts flowing easily in and out of the UK allowing for integrated supply chains - this agreement protects that; protect the close security co-operation that helps keep us safe - this agreement does that; protect the integrity of the UK and the peaceful settlement in Northern Ireland by leaving the EU as one united kingdom and having no hard border between Northern Ireland and Ireland - this agreement does that as well. Yes difficult and sometimes uncomfortable decisions have had to be made. I understand fully that there are some who are unhappy with those compromises but this deal delivers what people voted for and it is in the national interest and we can only secure it if we unite behind the agreement reached in cabinet yesterday. If we do not move forward with that agreement, nobody can know for sure the consequences that will follow. It would be to take a path of deep and grave uncertainty when the British people just want us to get on with it."
