    Former leader of the House of Commons Andrea Leadsom says Mr Johnson is a "passionate believer in the UK's future outside the European Union" and she says "we have to deliver" Brexit.

    Mr Johnson "truly believes in the future of the United Kingdom", she says.

    Defence minister Tobias Ellwood says he is "pleased" that the election is now completed as it has been a "distraction".

    "There is a desire by us to get this across the line", he says, adding that "the Tory party will be in the abyss" if it does not deliver Brexit.

    Editor of the Spectator Fraser Nelson says that he is surprised that the win for Boris Johnson is not as significant as previously expected.

    Mr Johnson beat Mr Hunt by a margin of two to one, rather than "four to one" as Mr Nelson says many were expecting.
