    Sandy has served on Fintry Sports Club's voluntary committee for more than 30 years and has inspired many to take up sport and participate in community activity, according to the people who nominated him.

    He also ran the Duke of Edinburgh's Award scheme at Balfron High School, where he was deputy headmaster.

    Baton bearer Kenneth Pearson, who is a Central Athletic Club coach, emailed us after he carried the baton in Thornhill.

    He said: "I am honoured to be selected for this. It was a great experience to hold the baton that had been all over the world and carried by so many great people.

    "It was also fantastic to get a close up look at the baton itself. It really is a work of art."

    He is pictured with his family and two of the athletes he coaches.

    The relay has now arrived in Kippen, where a kilted Niall Finlayson has just received the baton.

    According to our friends at Glasgow 2014, 840 shuttlecocks will be used across the badminton competition at the Emirates Arena as the Commonwealth's best players battle it out for the medals.

    One man who will miss out on the competition is world number one and defending champion Lee Chong Wei, who is suffering from a thigh injury.

    During week three of the Queen's Baton Relay in Scotland, the baton travelled by bike, lifeboat, horse and carriage and a helicopter and was carried through communities in Dundee, Angus, Aberdeenshire, Aberdeen, Shetland and Moray.

    Sixteen-year-old Angus organised ceilidhs, auctions and a garden festival to raise funds for a school in Kenya, which now has a new roof, generators and desks. In the words of those who nominated him, he has become "a role model within his local community".

    Colin has skippered the Scottish Rugby Union sevens team since 2009 and will lead out the Team Scotland sevens squad at the Commonwealth Games against Canada, New Zealand and Barbados.

    He also became the first Scot to score 1,000 points for his country.
