    Moira McBeath is the first person to carry the baton in Thurso.

    She was nominated to carry the baton following a career in athletics. She competed at the 1986 Commonwealth Games in Edinburgh in the 400m hurdles.

    At the Commonwealth Games, athletes will represent the individual nations of the British Isles rather than Team GB.

    It just so happens today's crew on the BBC coverage of the Queen's Baton Relay includes an Englishman (Simon Dedman on the left), an Irishman (John Prendergast in the centre) and BBC Scotland's very own Graham Stewart on the right.

    Clyde, the mascot for the Commonwealth Games, has been on hand to entertain the crowds throughout the Queen's Baton Relay in Scotland.

    The thistle man, who is named after the river that flows through Glasgow, even has his own website, external.
