The weather has been so kind to the relay in the Orkney Islands, with the sun beaming down for most of the day.

The relay started in Stromness, with Bobby Oag having the honour of being the first baton bearer of the day.

The baton also visited the 5,000-year-old Neolithic Skara Brae settlement and the Ring of Brodgar, a stone circle older than the pyramids.

Later on the relay arrived in dramatic fashion to the final location of the day, Kirkwall.

  14. Stopping at St Magnuspublished at 16:47 British Summer Time 10 July 2014

The baton is due to stop at St Magnus Cathedral at about 17:40 BST.

The Romano-Gothic cathedral, the most northerly in Britain, towers over Kirkwall.

It was built in Viking times from red sandstone taking about 300 years to build, the foundations starting in 1137.

    St Magnus

St Magnus is the only British cathedral with a dungeon, and the only to use the Norwegian style of bell ringing known as "clocking". One bell ringer can operate the bells by hand and using foot pedals.

Here's hoping the bells ring out for the baton today.
