    Alison, along with husband Brian, has run the Orkney Athletic Club for more than 15 years. A former athlete, she regularly gives up her weekends to travel with the team to various competitions on the Scottish mainland.

    If you are watching the video at the top of this page you will notice the relay has resumed.

    The baton is currently in the Orkney village of Dounby, which lies close to the famous Neolithic Skara Brae settlement.

    We had spectacular sunshine in Orkney this morning as scores of people celebrated the arrival of the Queen's Baton on the islands.

    The first baton bearer of the day, Robert Oag, received a fantastic welcome in Stromness.

    The baton relay is making headlines across the globe. The Gold Coast Bulletin in Australia has published a story, external about Scottish swimmer Gregor Tait, who now lives in their patch.

    Gregor, who won four medals in the Melbourne 2006 Games, is returning to carry the baton in Paisley next week.

    "I am starting to look forward to it now," he said.

    "It will be great to be able to catch up with friends and extended family."

    The Gold Coast will host the Commonwealth Games in 2018.

    "An update from the Picky Centre regarding tonight's sold-out Queens Baton Relay Event - due to popular demand an extra 130 seats have been made available.

    "They are on a first-come first-served basis, and to reserve contact Picky reception on 87 99 00."

    The Ring of Brodgar is the third largest stone circle in the British Isles with a diameter of 104m (341ft). It is part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site known as the Heart of Neolithic Orkney, external.

    Twenty-seven of the original 60 stones are still standing, which is good going considering the circle is thought to have been erected more than 4,000 years ago.
