The Queen's Baton paid homage to the Govan Fair, which dates back to the 14th century, earlier this afternoon.
According to legend, the sheep's head dates back 258 years to the story of a drover who wanted to get married but was prevented by a minister, who said the wedding would take place over his dead body.
The drover killed the biggest ram he could find and paraded it around.
The ram's head was kept and it was paraded around the village each year in the weavers' procession at the Govan Fair.
