    I haven't seen scenes like this during the baton's last 39 days in Scotland.

    The baton has just been carried by David Smith (pictured left) in Pollokshields. David is being recognised for his work as a surgeon.

    There are eleven baton bearers in Pollokshields, with the following joining David in Glasgow's south side:

    Hugh Torrance, Amanda Torrance, Alan Smith, Isabella MacGregor, Jodie Arthur, Sehar Khushi (pictured right), Heather Mackie, Margaret Cargey, Hardev Singh and Amarjit Nijjar.

    Charles Inglis has emailed us again to share his joy of the baton relay.

    He said: "This is Charles Inglis day 35 bearer 35 again - I have just had a friend Helen, who is avidly watching the live feed through her old haunts in the south of Glasgow, tell me that she can quite understand how I and everyone else are caught up in the euphoria of it all.

    "We baton bearers who have been interviewed have been almost lost for words to explain how we feel about it all, so I thought EUPHORIA was brilliant and would pass it on. I am going to join in, for the fourth time, at Govan in a wee while."

    Fidele made sure the large crowd who had turned out to see him outside the Citizens Theatre in the Gorbals earlier had a good look at the baton before he started his run.

    Fidele is a leader of the Cameroonian Association and was nominated to carry the baton for his work supporting asylum seekers and refugees in the city.

    Raza has been a pillar of the community in Govanhill for more than 15 years. He coaches cricket, football, basketball and badminton and the people who nominated him say he uses sport to engage young people in discussions about issues and help with training or employment.

    Philip Frey is a charity fundraiser who provides walking tours in the city to those involved in the couch surfing network, external.

    He carried the baton in Glasgow for the Manchester Games in 2002, making him one of the few people in the city to have carried two different batons for two different games.

    "Mrs Kennedy is a sports fanatic always encouraging the children, so much so she introduced the Highland Games to the junior school.

    "Moreover Fiona introduced handball and not only does she coach the children she has lead them to national success.

    Audrey McIntosh who passed the baton to Scotland manager Gordon Strachan has raised more than £10,000 for various charities including Alzheimer Scotland and the Royal Victoria Hospital by running marathons and ultra marathons, including the Ice Marathon in the Antarctic last year.
