Professor Anton Muscatelli, Principal and Vice Chancellor of the University of Glasgow, said: "The university is deeply saddened to hear that one of our students has been tragically killed in this terrible incident. Our thoughts and prayers are with Erin McQuade's family at this dreadfully sad time."

Glasgow - George Square and Queen Street have been re-opened by police following yesterday's events.
Brenda: Sending sympathy and prayers from America to the people of Glasgow.
Kathleen Nulty: My heart goes out to all the victims and their families in the aftermath of the crash yesterday. I live in Hull but am originally from Perth. I am deeply shocked and saddened. My prayers are with everyone in Glasgow and the rest of Scotland.
St Philomena's Primary School in Provanmill, where Stephenie Tait taught, have offered condolences to her family and paid tribute to an "excellent young teacher".
The school's head teacher Catherine Gallagher said: "The entire school community is deeply saddened by this tragic news.
"Stephenie was an excellent young teacher, dedicated to the children. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family and friends at this time.
"We will be supporting colleagues in every way possible. Stephenie made a wonderful contribution to the life of St Philomena's. She will be sadly missed by both pupils and staff."

Police Scotland says 10 people were injured in the bin lorry crash.
Four have been discharged, while six are currently receiving treatment in hospital for their injuries, including the driver of the lorry.
Four of the six are at Glasgow Royal Infirmary. One patient is expected to be discharged later today, one is in a critical condition, one is serious but stable and another is stable.
A further patient who is being treated at the Western Infirmary is in a stable condition and the sixth patient, who is being treated at the Southern General Hospital, is expected to be discharged later today.
Chief Superintendent Andy Bates, Local Policing Commander of 'G' Division, said: "This is a tragic incident which occurred in the heart of Glasgow city centre at a time when people were preparing for the festive season.
"My thoughts are with the family and friends of those involved.
"My officers will continue to work with partner agencies to investigate the cause of the incident. If anyone has any information that may assist our enquiries please contact Police Scotland on 101.
"I'm also aware that some members of the public may have video or images of the incident and it would be helpful if they could send them to georgesquareincident@scotland.pnn.police.uk.
"A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal."

Helen Lorraine Sweeney (known as Lorraine), 69, from Dumbarton
Gillian Ewing, 52, from Edinburgh
Stephenie Tait, 29, from Glasgow
Jacqueline Morton, 51, from Glasgow

Former Glasgow bin lorry driver Alex Mack spoke to John Beattie on Radio Scotland about what it is like to drive the vehicle.
Speaking about the crew, Alex, who drove lorries for 13 years, said: "It depends on the size of the job. It varies between one and four, plus the driver.
"There are seats behind the driver and one seat beside the driver in most of the vehicles."
Jack Sweeney, his wife Lorraine and granddaughter Erin McQuade were among the six victims of the fatal crash in George Square.
Erin, who worked at Cameron House Hotel, was described by her employer as "one of our brightest staff".
A fourth victim was named on social media as Stephenie Tait.
Glasgow MSP Humza Yousaf was among the many people who passed flowers to police officers near the George Square scene.
Her Majesty The Queen has sent a message of condolence to all the people of Glasgow following the George Square bin lorry crash.
Her Majesty said: "Prince Philip and I were saddened by the news of the tragic accident in Glasgow yesterday.
"Our thoughts and prayers go to the families of those who have lost loved ones and to those who have been injured.
"This sad event is made even more difficult as it comes at Christmas time. I send my condolences to all the people of Glasgow."
People from across Glasgow have been laying flowers in memory of those who died in George Square.
Celtic FC have announced , externalthat a minute's silence will be held on Saturday before the home match against Ross County, in memory of those who died in George Square.
