    First Minister Nicola Sturgeon says the year in Glasgow has been book-ended by two unimaginable tragedies.

    "We're just reminded of the spirit of Glasgow; I'm deeply proud to call this city my home," she tells reporters at George Square.

    "At a time like this, it is understandable that people want answers as quickly as possible, and if that is true for all of us it is particularly true for those who have been most directly affected.

    "But it is also important that our highly professional and highly-skilled police force have the time and space to carry out the investigation that they are tasked with doing, so that those answers can be forthcoming."

    The Order of Service for the 11:30 church service at St George's Tron Church in Glasgow has been released.

    The church is near the crash scene of George Square and will be one of the focal points of reflection today.

    Following a welcome by Rev Alastair Duncan, there will be the carol In the Bleak Midwinter.

    Presbytery Clerk and former Moderator Very Rev Bill Hewitt will carry out a reading, and Rev Stuart Smith Moderator of Glasgow Presbytery will offer a simple reflection and lead another prayer.

    There will then be time for silent reflection or prayer, followed by the carol Silent Night.

    The Rev Stuart Smith will close the service with a blessing.

    The Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow has expressed "its deepest sympathies to the families and friends of those who lost their lives in George Square" and has decided to fly the flag on its building at half-mast today.

    In a statement, the group added: "The loss of a family member or friend in such a way is an unimaginably distressing experience as those of us who have experienced a similar tragedy know.

    "We extend our support and thoughts to all those who were injured. We cannot speak highly enough regarding the skill and professionalism of all the rescue services.

    "We know that a number of our fellows and members have been treating those injured and are gratified by the contribution they are making. We are proud to be the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of this city whose inhabitants have once again had to deal at close hand with tragedy and have responded spontaneously and in such a supportive and compassionate way for their fellow citizens."

    Esther Walker: I'm a Scot living in Leeds with many friends and relatives living in Glasgow and my heart is broken for the tragic event that's hit my kinsfolk.     Police Scotland says 10 people were injured in the bin lorry crash, including the driver.

    Seven of the casualties were taken to hospital by the ambulance service, two walked into hospital and one was treated at the scene.

    Four of them have since been discharged.

    Of the six remaining people in hospital, two have been moved to the Intensive Therapy Unit for further monitoring.

    A formal identification process of the dead will be carried out later.

    George Square remains cordoned off this morning and access to Queens Street Station closest to the site remains shut.

    Although, as I walked through the station a few minutes ago, you could hear the sound of drilling; presumably work getting under way to clear the site and make it safe.

    Police Scotland's forensic investigation into how this accident happened continues, with officers asking for anyone with video or pictures, to email a special address that's been set up for the George Square inquiry.

    Answering the question why it happened will be more complicated.
